The pressure from the explosion underwater would have killed them since the pressure travels farther and is more intense in water.

The older mw had a lot of Hollywood baked into it, the new ones are more grounded and I frankly like it this way, the original no russian was bullshit from beginning to end and was mostly just cheap shock factor, the way they did it here is a lot more scary and believable since it could feasibly happen.

That's the thing, the kids who grew up with MW series in the 2010s didn't understand how the military works... It had a lot of Hollywood baked in where the general still takes the field with their army. That's never been the case since WW2 ended. Current military has become once you reach the rank of Colonel you become a politician more than a military officer.

In the original Shepard got them branded renegade and had all his assets against them. The only way they stayed floating was through favours and friends. I'm super confused as to how Shepard just gets pushed around like this, especially considering what Price does in the ending

If Shepherd branded them as renegades, it wouldn’t be too hard for them to gather themselves and the Vaqueros as witnesses to the atrocities committed by Shadow Company under Shepherd’s orders. This coupled with the fact that Shepherd knows the 141’s value (see how effective they are despite being so few in numbers) are why he hasn’t branded them traitors yet.

NONE of them have the authority to pass judgement on a 4 star US general, and should have taken the evidence to the government instead of trying to kill him. And Shepherd is a lot more valuable to the US than 141 ever has been. They can be replaced with sheer number, or just new recruits that exist out there somewhere, a figure as important as Shep most definitely can not. Not to mention, why would the government believe 141 and Los Vaqueros when they've attempted to kill Shep and Shadow? They both could spin it either way, and Shep would probably be the one trusted more handedly. Even if Shep doesn't brand them it, the US Gov most definitely will after an assassination. No amount of "We're the good guys actually!" can get you out of killing a 4 star General INSIDE the pentagon.
