Actually it happened to the Cornelia Marie. One episode I know is where the time bandit had to help them rescues there pots because it sunk to the bottom of the ocean floor. They like shot a line or something over to the other boat. Don't remember what episode it was called. But I have seen lines snap before on deadliest catch.

You know that's my thoughts.. it isn't like they're fishing all year long, you'd imagine the other 10 months or whatever they could spend 1 of them before the season going over every inch of equipment. Thats my thoughts. I work in the oilfield and have to pull tubing/ rods and visually inspecting 10,000' is kinda difficult when it has to be done fast. Can't have things both ways.

@@jlo7770 I worked on fishing boats and we checked out ropes and all our gear as we were loading it on the boat. Got new rope every 2 or 3 years.

@@jasonlirette8220 that's what I'd do. I'm not a fishing guy but that makes me sense then trying to do it in the dark while you're on rough sea ect. I also think you should be looking at the rope as you're working with it, don't be looking off into the stars while you're working, but trying to blame someone is kinda... petty, In the oilfield drill line has to be changed every so often regardless of it needs to be or not. I'd imagine rope would be the same id treat it the same. I think they don't/ didn't like the guy (which is fine) but blaming him for lost equipment? Naw if it was my ship I'd spend the time going over the equipment before using it instead of sitting at a bar in Seattle doing blow and getting smashed. As you said, check your stuff out before you dump it in the ocean not while you're dumping it
