I’ve dealt with personalities like this and these types think nothing bad will ever happen to them. I’ve walked out of some very dangerous situations and when I voiced my concerns I got told there was nothing to worry about. I’m glad I walked away and this captain did the right thing.

He's lazy and undisciplined and who knows what else, just a recipe for disaster. Phil Harris, Sig, Hillstrands, Elliot, Wild Bill...any of them, heck I remember when Jake in his greenhorn years was ripped a new one when those holes were not mended. And no Captain leaves the dock with a coast guard violation, like he said your going argue rules to them.

No when your workers are up for 20+ hours you don’t fix things as you’re doing it… this dude sounds like he was handed a boat and is coming up with fixing efficiency on the fly… holes you deal with before you put on the boat, if it’s gear that’s producing and the money is there yea you wait to fix the holes till you get back to the dock… lobstering you have the luxury to doing small repairs on the fly… this dude is so clueless as an owner i feel bad for the crew…

Ok I am not in the fishing business and no expert but this Captains responses were red flags. Worked with similar people like this guy in my trade and it just makes you cringe that they exist. It’s like he didn’t even care about safety and the crab pots having holes on it. Smart move on the guy to part ways. Haven’t watched this show in a long time need to do some catching up.

Do any job properly or do not do it at all....... Sending a horrible message to the crew for letting them stack prior to all of those holes in the pots being mended. The crew is as solid as it’s captain.... Leadership is earned and respect will be given to those who understand the burden of leadership.

There’s no wiggle room for safety and having proper gear. This job is too dangerous and the punishments are severe. There’s honoring a commitment and then there’s listening to your gut when you know something isn’t right. Not worth the risk to your safety or wallet. One random coast guard check and this boat/captains are screwed. I guarantee this is only the tip of the iceberg for how poorly run this boat is.

Why wouldn’t one fix them when they are on stable ground with crew that aren’t stressed from the normal work load on a ship actively fishing? It clearly shows a captain that isn’t worried about his crew’s workload.
