Sauron is a demonized Maiar He doesn’t need black powder weapons He has several types of magic including necromancy Or at least he USED to… Honestly exactly how much power he regained before his second and ultimate defeat in the third LOTR movie/book and what types is never revealed to us so I might just be speculating
