Following the devastation to the Captiva nests, the original pair relocated.
This season there is a lot of interest on the nest.
Jack and Edie - 2024 May 18th Edie shows the prime example of gular fluttering and Mumbrella from from the Florida heat.
Gular fluttering is a rapid, open-mouth breathing and throat vibration that causes evaporation and lowers the bird's body temperature

Mumbrella a widely adopted term, where the female osprey makes an umbrella over the chicks to shield them from the sun, wind or rain.
Both chicks can be seen with full crops, but there is always room for more...

The osprey (Pandion haliaetus) here in Florida are non-migratory.
