It did not work for me either. Whatsapp says that either this is because the sender is using an older version of whatsapp or that the sender hasn't recently opened whatsapp or interacted with the recipient. I can say this isn't the case for example with a specific chat which is with another number which I own - it uses the latest whatsapp version and I have also opened it recently and interacted with my other whatsapp account - still the warnings remain there.
