Builds don't bring in money without a TV show paying the bills. It's all for TV. If builds were profitable, they'd do them all of the time.

It's a work truck. Seems like lowering it takes away it's main purpose (and some of it's value). Also.. on top of the $7500 they've spent there was at least a thousand dollars in labor (that Richard paid for no doubt). Does that get added in and taken out of any profit that might be made?
@martinbell1523
@martinbell1523 2 жыл бұрын
They probably view that labor as a fixed overhead cost - judge "rebuild" on gross profit.

As a machinist, I don't know what's worse, prepping the surface with an electric wire brush, or using that type of straight edge to check the deck. That style of straight edge will be out 3-4 thousands of an inch. That variation is a significant number in terms of checking for warpage on a cylinder head. Of course, I've only been working at Power Pro Heads Inc. for 22 years, so what would I know.....
@craigcampbell1843
@craigcampbell1843 2 жыл бұрын
As a machinist you should know that was a pneumatic wire brush. Not an electric one. Haha. Also I thought the straight edge was funny too. No shims or feeler gauges or anything. Just puts it on there in one place, looks at it and says I’m sure we’ll be fine. 😂

It was probably a mistake to lower because if its to be a work truck (plumber, electrician etc) the owner will want to drive on to worksites where ground clearance and a bit of spring travel could be helpful. For the same reason, the dual wheels on the back may help to sell it - more tyre/traction on the ground in loose, muddy or rutted soil etc.

Fixing gap between bed and cab made sense, but lowering it and reducing load capacity/clearance was a waste of a good work truck. New tires, NO dually, new seats/seat covers, scrub/detail - done. Keep it simple - but when Millennials involved can't even check fluids before driving it much less have the discipline to execute a profitable flip.

I would keep the old tires and find some used steel rims and clean and paint them.Paint the mirrors black. Maybe add hub caps like you have on the new rims. I would color match and paint the toolbox/bed so those bare metal spots are gone. I would look for a used seat and replace it. The cracked dash needs to be addressed. Those "pick-ur-part" type junk yards go a long way. I would not lower the truck if it affects the payload. I would take out the seat and carpet or rubber and make sure everything is as clean as I can possibly get it. I would clean under the hood and make sure everything is spotless. Maybe spray the floor of the bed with bed liner. Make sure everything is working correctly. I think everything I mentioned is pretty cheap to do and goes a long way. I didn't realize at first how much these trucks are worth. I thought they over spent, but if what I read is right, they can still make a profit.

all Very good and valid points,but theres a Lot of Fail going on too by the monkeys. i think youll notice that they didnt even touch the interior... in the driving shots you can clearly see how dirty the inside of the cab and windows are,and the wipers are not aligned either. they also didnt steam clean the engine compartment either. Presentation is Everything in Sales...thats the first lesson they need to learn. i really didnt get the point of lowering it either,that took a Lot of customers out of the market right there. lot of fail here,from not checking fluids and just blindly driving it till it popped,to bad decisions and im gonna predict now,that richards idea will Save them and make the truck sellable too...... id guesstimate that truck would be worth maybe 7 grand currently maybe!! in todays market and they need to make a profit Somehow...............dont forget at the end of the day,this is just a 2wd truck that they are already overpaid into,by around 2 grand, much less the parts and labor.

The silicone on the intake ports is not something I like seeing.. I've seen it happen a few times, where bits of RTV cure in the lifter valley. Over time these bits of RTV find their way into the oil screen and engine oil ports restricting oil flow in the block. The same goes for the cooling system, you need to be really careful when using RTV in the place of a factory or aftermarket gasket. Use the correctly formulated RTV in the amounts and places the manufacturer says. More isn't better. This is a great mini-series.Great job

I had that same problem with the headgaskets on a chevy teuck same year engine and everything just with a flatbed on it instead. But someone replaced one side headgasket before i got it and then so then the other side blew on the same spot so bad the engine hydrolocked on that piston from coolant going in there. It still ran tho if you emptyed the coolant just not good at all.

Instead of tandum wheels,heres an old trick i used to do on stepsides well Ford anyway I won't own a chevy past 68.take a van rear axle and install it ,you'll have to move or add on to the shackle mount "blocks". The end result pushs your rear stance out about 3 quarters of a inch out each side ,on a stepside it pushs the wheels just outside the wheel wells .
