You my friend, are an excellent educator. You know when some people speak, after a few minutes of trying to listen to them you want to poke your eardrums out with a sharp stick, however, when you speak, you have a way of communicating that makes people want to listen to every word you are saying. Thank You for the knowledge you are sharing. TP

Damit this guy gave me the confidence to try to blend a 2002 Honda Accord silver NH623m. Passenger fender was wrong color on a Honda I bought to flip. So needed to blend into front passenger door and hood. I used sealer because all I heard from this video is primer sealer....man I am so satisfied with how my 1st ever blend job went. Because Brian explained what is need to blend, and blend silver, I feel like a pro. Thanks Brian, yes I subscribed!

@@PaintSociety you are welcome man! I’m not sure if you know what I mean or maybe I can be wrong.. but are early 2000’s acura paints kinda not like a base coat/clear coat system? But more of a clear coat that is mixed with the base coat? Like they put color in the clear from factory? I’ve tried sanding out scratches of my factory finish, but it seems like I take color off too?? And the scratches can never be sanded out. Do you know what I mean lol or am I crazy

Hey Brian, you have been an excellent resource and are great at conveying your message along with the various little tips that you give with the major concepts. I've been learning body and paint on my own for about 5 months, and just wanted to say thanks a lot for all of your videos, of which I have watched almost every single one. As of yesterday I've finished my first metal working to completed paint job using a Fuji HVLP 5 stage sprayer, and it turned out almost perfect besides from a few runs in the clear from lack of light on the fenders (I'll be using my tolecut kit to fix ;] ). One thing I, and I'm sure many others, would like to see more of is body/metal working. Thanks again Brian, I greatly appreciate all the time and thoughtfulness you put in to your videos. Aloha

I just wanted to say thank you for producing such great videos. I've watched for quite a while and have learned quite a bit. I am getting ready to paint a 1985 Chevy Corvette that is really badly sun damaged. Clear is peeling, paint has flaked off down to the fiberglass in several spots, there are ridges and irregularities everywhere. So much sanding... Would you consider making a video on restoring paint on a car similar to that? Thanks for all you do.

Regard's Brian!I'm always amazed with your excellent narration! There is one trick more for Sikkens autobase plus that you(and i also)use. You can ad 10%harter in mixed base ,it will make job easier and it will improve adhesion of base coat to surface. But yes the key of blending is extra slow reducer, and final reducing for blending area with more reducer.I used before "blending agent "but with reduction on pressure and material in this "fade out zone'it is possible to make perfect transition.I do prefer tack rag use between every coat just to minimize flake owerspray.Sealer is good thing but you don;t need this if you prepared surface "by the book"Also it is not the same to cover sanding scratch with sikkens autobase plus and for example glasurit s-55 solvent base line.glasurit just can't handle scratches ,also water borne system's of paint have greater capabilities to mask the scratches but requiere some other stuff ,but that's another story.Anyway excellent video!!!!

My least favorite thing to do is blend silver. I am always looking for a new "trick" to make it fool proof. One thing I picked up from this video is, I may have been using too aggressive grit sand paper to prep. I have an upcoming bumper and small dent repair on a silver Cadillac this week. I will be trying a finer grit paper along with your 50-50 mix of base and intercoat for the cheep insurance. Thank you! Also I noticed your plug for Tamco Paint. I have been using Tamco primer and clear coat for the last couple years. Good stuff! Happy to see the brand being promoted by other painters!

Great job, I appreciate all the teps in this video, the question is when you spray some clear coat on the blending area before the base coat you will get over spray on the rest of the penals so you don’t think that will effect on the base coat when it comes over it because might be there is some dry spot??

Thank you for the great instructions. I'm getting better. Have you ever experienced wrinkles around a repair on OEM paint? It happens where the clear feathers into scuffed paint (I'm assuming it's a reaction between the fresh thinner). I've had it happen on two different Chevrolets. The wider I sand (e.g. To fix wrinkles), the wrinkles just follow the new edge, but never go away.

I paint hundreds of flawless silver jeep parts every day... with Fanuc paint robots. lol. Silver tends to want to mottle(tiger striping) more than others. We use a few different silver paints from PPG. SSE, Nissan Silver, a new switchblade silver, and a few others I cannot think of right now. I've been programming paint robots for the last two years and have learned a lot about auto paint as I go. I'm lucky, though. I have some of the best paint experts in the world to get advise from, straight from PPG. PPG also gives out the coolest t-shirts. I'm always on their asses about bringing me new hats and things.
