Any suggestions on how to remove light scratches and swirl marks ? Like only noticeable in particular lighting an angles. Long story short wiped down parts of the car with microfibre cloth that was wet ( so was the area ) then wiped it down with a dry one. Any suggestions?

I tried this technique on my 1995 Ford Mustang. It's metallic red and had a large number of minor scratches on the passenger door. I used Testors model paint and the results were very good. Of course it didn't remove the scratches, but I would say it looks 95% better. And the paint only cost $3.25.

For the punters out there: the buffing *might* remove some of the new paint out of the scratches, hence the need to go back again as in the video. Thanks for these type of videos it's appreciated and this is something I'm going to try on a bumper that slightly brushed against a metal fence leaving a few little scratches. I already have the touch up kit polisher etc but this is the method I'll now try first. Thanks again

I'll try it, I have piano black mercedes benz and it has some minor scratches and obviously I did not want to get it repainted with bad results...but now I will try your trick and I'm sure that everything will come out right. I'm used to car restorations and I never heard of your method, THANKS MATE😊

I believe it's worth saying what kind of paint you use. I for example mix base and hardener, someone adds clear coat too, some people use single stage etc

This does work but it works much better if you thoroughly clean the area with a suitable solvent before you apply the paint. That way you remove all the polish and cleaning products that might be embedded in the scratches.

@@cvrpov Probably right but the upload is for people in general. Some suitable solvent get rid of atmospheric and environmental dirt as well.

Do you have an idea of maybe applying a clear-coat spray to protect the paint?

That would be more a respray. A good ceramic would be better

Great method.Just wondering, How long did you leave paint on before buffing. Is the paint from a can or out of a touch up pen. Would using a touch up pen (brush end) work the same i.e. smearing on scratches then buffing. Cant wait to try this. Fantastic video

Great Job, Can you tell us aprox. cutting power of the compound you used ? Is it around 5/10 ? (Like Menzerna 2500) I guess if you use an agressive compound , it could remove the paint that you applied. Thanks
