Tiny little gussets on sides for those tiny little ears on the rear bones would do wonders on longevity. Maybe even a piece of tube with a nylon spacer, capped with a chrome washer and a dome nut/bolt. The original one was a show piece, this I assume is going to get driven. So some modifications around overall safety has to be made. Easy fix now when all the parts are still on the table. If you leave the fix on the side of the road, it's not going to be that easy.

So, I've been buying back issues of Hop Up (late to the table) and me thinks I spotted you and Bob Bleed together in a shot! Had to share with my wife who replied, "You sound like a Fan Boy honey." When you set up an engine on an engine stand, do not set up the pivot for the stand with the center line of the crankshaft. The stand pivot point needs to be well above the crank center line. The top of the engine has more mass than the bottom. I think you know that now.

The problem with polished parts is they start to oxidize almost right away unless you clear coat them. You`ll be constantly be re-polishing them unless you clear coat them. Ask me how i know.
