Ian McCollum did a video about the ASP pistol from the 1970's and it used the same Quick Sight system but they called them Gutter Snipe sights. The ASP was a S&W Model 39 pistol that was heavily customized by Paris Theodore. The ASP even had the fluorescent yellow coloring on the sights.

I was under the impression that gutter snipe sights didn't have a front post but instead used geometry to give the sight picture.

The Seventrees/Armament Systems ASPs have no front post, but the Devel Full House “ASP” pistols had lower profiled fixed front/rears or lower profiled Bomar adj rears. I’ve shot both and inherited a S&W 59-2 Devel “ASP” The Guttersnipe sight is cool, but I definitely like the Bomar and post on the Devel better.

They are similar systems but different as well. The ASP was so ground breaking in a lot of ways when it was introduced. It took decades for S&W and others to learn from this niche project, designed for actually gunfights, not Fudds.

What gun manufacturer hasn't had a recall? They've all had recalls. What matters is how they handle the recall. I got a full refund hassle free. They sent me a shipping label. @@chicorodriguez3964I don’t have anything from caracal so I have no dog in the fight. What you’re saying is 180* inverse, it’s expected that there could be teething pains when a company launches a brand new design. This isn’t only true of firearms, it happens in every industry. The issue of drop safety has touched just about every line of modern pistols on the market at one time or another. If a company makes it right I consider it to be over and done with, if I didn’t I have a very narrow range of companies to do business with.

That having been said, the P229 has a relatively high bore axis, and for whatever reason I shoot mine better than *almost* any other 9mm (Beretta 92, Navy vet, shot a billion rounds through em on active duty so it's just familiarity) I've owned/shot. Excellent review. I was a civilian contractor running logs outside the wire for 3.5 years in Afghanistan and 1.5 years in Libya. My greatest concern and single biggest requirement with any weapon is its ability to run crap Chinese (and other sourced) ammunition. I would be interested to see some testing and any anecdotal information you can share regarding lacquered steel cased 9mm and 7.62x39 ammunition. Case in point - I carried a weapon and probably used it more than most contractors (with the exception of post-2008 Iraq when contractors were almost exclusively the only formal forces fighting local insurgency.) We carried Pakistani counterfeit weapons (Krinks, Klashes, PKMs and even M9 and Hi-Power clones) and they may have been less than stellar accuracy but I could clean the barrels with a wad of knotted-up old boot laces dipped in an ammo can of used motor oil and run ammunition who’s origin I have no idea and I never had the things stop running. Ever. And we ran ‘em all for training purposes quite frequently.

One thing you need to learn about the gun company.. They are a hivemind of toddlers who change their diapers every time one person shits their pants. This is how Fudd lore gets propogated. There's gatekeepers who assume the moral high ground by spreading rumors and acting like they know everything. Your relationship with guns should never revolve around solely on what the gun community says. You should always try it for yourself.

@SmallArmsSolutions
@SmallArmsSolutions 2 ай бұрын
Thats what i said, it is a slide stop because it locks the slide back on the last shot. It is not recommended to use as a release, you’re to manually pull back on the slide to release. Even Glock calls it a slide stop not a release. That was until the modified the slide stop to a release by making a larger lever.

@@SmallArmsSolutions Does it release the slide when hit? If so, the manufacturer’s advice doesn’t matter. That’s basically on par with fudd lore. There’s a reason why reputable instructors don’t hold this stance. I have ran classes for years and it’s never been a problem. If it were an issue, the SOP for mil/LE who use these guns wouldn’t use the slide release. It’s ironic how companies like Sig will also say not to use the slide release, yet if you go to Sig academy, or look at Sig sponsored shooters, you’ll see them using the slide release. I really hope you have enough critical thinking skills to realize that just because the manufacturer says something, doesn’t mean it makes any sense.

The engineers do know what they’re talking about. Misuse of a slide control is however not catastrophic. They may categorize it as a stop and not a release due to its shape possibly leading h to failure over time if stress in a certain way, or possibly it is just designed to be a small control for locking the slide rearward. There usually is a reason for the manufacturer to state something is a specific item. Luckily misuse of a slide control is safe, and worst case it breaks after a while.

@@SmallArmsSolutions The Glock manual literally says you can use the “slide lock” during reloads. “After the last round has been fired, the slide remains open. Insert a new magazine and then either push the slide stop lever (27) downwards (see photo), or pull the slide slightly backwards and allow it to spring forwards. The weapon is now again secured and ready to fire.” So it’s clear you either have never actually read the Glock manual, or are purposefully disregarding it. Too many known and reliable pistols on the market already that don't have the tarnished reputation that this pistol does. As for the quick sight system: it's a gimmick. Any experienced pistol shooter is going to point shoot or shoot using there front sight only at closer ranges. I didn't notice the shooter firing faster with the quick sight system, in fact it looked slower. If you want a quirky gun that's reliable with a track record buy a Streyr. It has a low bore access also and the company has been around for over 100 years.

If you feel my content is bias and I am being paid off, there are several other channels who do get paid by manufactures to do videos you can watch. I see many “experts” out there who throw around accusations when they have little to no factual knowledge. You claim unproven? Obviously you dont listen. It is the service pistols in UAE and Jordanian Armies. It has been bought by several other law enforcement agencies. This pistol has been around for nearly 10 years. Just not on the American commercial market. It is fully supported in America, it’s manufactured in Idaho now.

Just to correct the information that UAE is the 1st Arab country to manufacture guns, Egypt manufacturing guns since the 50s of the past century and Iraq also manufactured arms long before the UAE

They talk about all the tests it's been through and on and on. I just can't ever forgive them about the first gen slide cracking like it did. Should never have happened.

They never had slides fail. Some pistols experienced a drop safety issue, 10 years ago.

@@SmallArmsSolutions type caracal slide crack in google and look at all the old pictures and threads from back when it was happening.

The only slide cracking was a couple in Pakistan. No evidence ever came to light. For at least 50 years Pakistan ammo is the #1 absolute WORST garbage ammo you could find. It was well known in the 1970's already. Its why I NEVER fire Pakistan or even India ammo in any gun, as you have no idea what's going to happen when it fired.

Ever since a caracal exploded in a friends hand, I decided never to go near one on the range! They did a recall and refund/replacement in USA but in other countries they were not that generous! It’s another of those rich prince projects I’ll stay away from and advise my friends for the same!

Umm, why did it explode? You can make any pistol explode. You need more info. If he had equip load, it would have blown up any pistol. Colt rifled have kabooms due to bad ammo but everyone still buys them!

Don't buy a Glock, as many "Kabooms" have been documented as well. I'd be interested in seeing photos/documentation on a CARACAL "Kamboom", as I have never heard of this before??? Please bring the receipts, so to speak.
