Hi Kristen! Hmm good question. I guess for high school students you could use more complex sentences and tell them a little bit more about yourself than just the background stuff. That said, I think that students would always enjoy an energetic ALT so keep your energy up! And pictures are never a bad idea--they would help your students get a much better idea on what you're talking about, even if they have good English ability!!! Hi Erica! This is for JHS. Actually I use the same pictures for EMS but much simpler language. But like I said, don't worry about your students not understanding! Your Japanese teacher will probs jump in and help translate if he/she thinks that what you're saying is too difficult for the students to understand :)

Lots of junken would be great for 1st and 2nd graders!

A lesson usually goes for 45-50 minutes (depending on the school schedule) and you may be allocated as short as 10 minutes to as long as the whole class for your introduction, so be flexible! And, yes I'll think about how to do that!!!! (I can't film at school, but I'll work on that XD)

I do know people who have tattooes! You just have to cover them at all times. And fill out a form when you apply to the JET Program.

YASSSSS nodame cantabile!!! Gosh such an oldie but such a goldie! For my pictures I just used the school's printer and laminator haha you shouldn't have to pay out of pocket for those, since they're for lessons :) For my intro I was given the whole class (45-50minutes) to do it, but sometimes in elementary school I only have 10-15 minutes so I just don't do the worksheet! You can certainly do both! Like I said, taking a video of your hometown is going to be real interesting to your students (or anything that you can't take after you arrive in Japan). I'd say at least do a mini wrap-up or conclusion to the video cos it wouldn't be super engaging if the students are just watching a TV screen, you know? It's much more valuable to have you talk and interact with them in my opinion! Good luck!

Hey there! I prepared everything at school so I wouldn't worry too much about having it completed before arriving in Japan. Like I said, though, try to take pictures or videos of your hometown and with your family and friends to let your students get to know you on a more personal level! THAT you can't prepare after you arrive in Japan so :P Good luck!

Yea I try to not speak Japanese as much as possible in class! If the students don't understand what you're asking, your JTE is most likely going to translate for them so that shouldn't be a problem.
