People say that the first generation X3 had no off-road ability because they watched Clarkson put it through its paces in a marsh where even a Range Rover had no prayer (it was very disingenuous of Clarkson). I had one for 10 years, drove it through mud, rock, and grass, and never once got stuck. It was such a good car, my brother bought it off me.
