Thanks for this. For the bottom pin, I had to drill behind the pin and push it out on one side. It was too far in to prise out, and very, very tight. All done and working. For Australian viewer, you can get the struts reasonably priced from The Gas Strut Guys

good on yer sport, just found out my gas struts are shot on a motorhome I've recently bought. I needed this video to show me how you get the little blighters off. I've just got to break the bank to buy some now.

Thanks Peter for the video. I'm really struggling to remove the plugs, they should have a small screwdriver recess to enable removal. At least your efforts reassure me that the plugs do need to be removed to do the job. Motto - Nobody said it would be easy!

Thanks for making this video! Very instructive! I now know what to expect. I already managed to prise off the white plastic cap without any damage by means of a sharp thin knife! The metal cap will follow after I received the spare parts. By the way: How much did you pay on eBay? I myself bought them for 49 euros the pair in Holland.

If you look at this page www.caravansplus.com.au/pdf/repair_heki_2.pdf it shows that you dont need to remove the bottom pin because the piston rod has a right hand thread that connects it to the joint lug and simply screws out. You will still have to remove the top pin. Copied struts may differ from manufacturers originals and you may have to remove the bottom pin.

De bodem pin hoeft niet los kwam ik vandaag achter. Hier zit schroefdraad op. Hiermee blijft het oog zitten en schroef je de nieuwe gasveer er zo weer in. Net weer iets makkelijker.
