What was the dependent and controlled variables
@TheSingtangpaScienceGuy
@TheSingtangpaScienceGuy 3 жыл бұрын
Dependent variable would be the rate of photosynthesis. Independent variable is the amount of CO2 supplied. But experiments like these are not investigative in nature. Its just to demonstrate that CO2 is essential for photosynthesis. So one pot is exposed to free air. One is exposed to air devoid of co2. An investigative experiment would be one where you take many pots of identical plants and expose each one of them to different concentrations of CO2 to find out the effect of an increase or decrease in CO2 on the rate of photosynthesis. In such investigative experiments, knowing the dependent, independent and controlled variables would be crucial. But for mere demonstrative experiments where u only have to prove a point, i,e Light, CO2, Chlorophyll etc are essential for photosynthesis to happen, i dont think knowing the variable carry much weight. I've had this Variables question asked in the comments of almost all my photosynthesis expt videos from viewers. Did your teachers specifically ask you all to find out the variables?

Hi! It's a great video! But i wanna ask, can we use any plant to do this experiment?? Thanks
@TheSingtangpaScienceGuy
@TheSingtangpaScienceGuy 3 жыл бұрын
Yes i see no reason why any green plant should not show the same result.
@elizabethleonnyefendi301
@elizabethleonnyefendi301 3 жыл бұрын
Ok thank you sm! I have one more question, is that ok if we destarched the plant for 4 days?
@TheSingtangpaScienceGuy
@TheSingtangpaScienceGuy 3 жыл бұрын
@@elizabethleonnyefendi301 no problem. But if you destarch small and fragile plants for that many days, they will become yellow and may disrupt the flow of the experiment causing inconvenience. For large, bulky and hardy plants, no problem.

Water does not absorb CO2. Its used as negative control in order to confirm that it is not water but the KOH that ia absorbing CO2

Actually plants convert nitrogen into carbon, so CO2 isn't necessary at all.
