In this video, I remove my airbag and my oem steering wheel and installed a custom carbon fiber, alcantara, paddle shifter, drive select, push button start, flat bottom racing steering wheel from DMP Car Design on my 2015 Audi A4 S-Line (B8.5). Don’t know cause I don’t have that feature and my button is useless. You need to contact DMP if you bought the steering wheel from them and want to wire up the drive select button.

so question for you, because i LOVE the wheel. I have a 2014 audi a4 quattro, and my stock steering wheel is a little different. instead of a circle around the audi logo in the center, mines more of an oval kind of shape. could i still install this new wheel onto that? or would my cords and stuff be different? sorry, new to cars! thanks let me know!

We have a “mode” button on the old steering wheel that changes between modes on the dash, what buttons on the new wheel replace that?

I don’t remember but the new one did everything the old one did. But now i also have paddle shifters and a push start button.

Interested in same wheel, but my 2011 S4 b8 airbag is different size. Does the package include an airbag? Is a retrofit module included if needed?

Hey brotha, so I have a 2011 S5 and been wanting to upgrade to a similar steering wheel, so my car has all the options besides the push start, it’s the “plug in key push to start style” would that still work in similar method for the push start activation? Cheers thanks for the great video

Mine has that style “push in key” and start button in the center. But if you only have the “push in key”…I don’t know. You will need to contact DMP and ask them if it’s possible. If so, they can tell you exactly the install.

Awesome video - how has the alcantara held up so far? I've read that it wears pretty quickly and doesn't look great after a while.

Nope. It’s been awesome. Just don’t be driving with greasy, sweaty, dirty hands. And there’s alcantara cleaners out there to “refresh” the look after a lot of usage.

Do the buttons on the left side of the steering wheel let you change to the previous/next song? If i remember correctly the stock steering wheel doesn't have that so idk if that would work. Great vid like always!

Probably but I’m not 100% sure what it can piggy back onto. Can probably tap to a button that turns on and off. Like the traction control, or maybe subwoofer, or some lights (like underglows or something). Not sure about using it for radio features.

Did you reuse the steering wheel bolt or are they one time use ?

I always reused mine if they are in good condition, I use loctite, and torque them down to spec. Manufacturers always “recommend” to get a new one every-time you take off your steering wheel but I’ve taken my steering wheel off on all 3 of my cars many many times and they’ve been 100% fine with the oem bolt. That’s your call based on what you have if you are doing a steering wheel removal. I can’t recommend one or the other.

you don’t have to disconnect the battery with push start? just pull the fuse?

I always trying to disconnect the battery since it’s guaranteed there’s no power flowing. But this time I just fused the airbag fuse.

@@TheFlexxGarage also just to clarify is there two receivers one inside the steering wheel hooked up to the start button and the second you hookup to the centre console start to send signal? or does the wheel have already a pre installed receiver and dmp cars sends you 1 to communicate with the steering ? thank you for your quick reply pal keep up the brilliant work

Please watch the video again. If you didn't see me install a receiver in the steering wheel, then it's probably built in. I don't hide any steps in my videos. If you have questions, just contact DMP. It's their product and they can tell you every little thing about it better than I can.

Haha. I’m not mad. Why you apologizing? I was just telling you that’s everything shown in my videos is what’s included. I’m here to help but 99% of everything you see in my videos…is the install. I always do my best to show everything so people are 100% clear with the product and install. Just keep that in mind. If there stuff required for the install, it will be mention or shown in the video. I’d hate for you to watch a video, question things, and I don’t have time to get back to your question. That’s why I try to make my videos as detailed as possible so there are no questions needed.

That’s why DMP is the best. They figure out how to ship out full steering wheels with airbags. Just reach out to them if you’re interested. They can make almost any custom configuration for a steering wheel. They made me a custom steering wheel for my Mercedes, my A4 (as seen in the video), and they are making one for my Audi R8.

Of course they do. They work with a supplier who manufactures custom steering wheels for other well known resellers. DMP is unique that they provide support on the install and they offer warranty.

Don’t go through the website. Instead, just message DMP and tell you them want the exact wheel in my video. Send a screenshot from the video if you want. Or send them the video link and they’ll watch the video and see exactly what’s in it. Their contact info is in the video description. Since you are not going through the website, make sure you ask them to apply the Flexx discount to your order.

But you can activate audi drive select with VCDS...

No you can’t. If your car doesn’t have it, it can’t be activated. Just like if your car came with halogen headlights, doesn’t mean you can activate projector headlight features just because it shows up in Vcds.

@@TheFlexxGarage But it is actually possible. I have done it too. It works for the motor in every case, but for the steering it only works with the servotronic.
