Something about that red, yellow, white, and blue packaging. Just beautiful

I agree. I have several of the original 9 AF figures from 1982 as well as a pretty large collection of Speciall Teams and even all these years later, the coliur and packaging style brings so many happy memories flooding back. Most are resting in my attic, well sealed waiting for the future. All except the originsl SAS figure. He stands proudly beside a huge 1950s retro robot and other assorted figures on my son's wardobe, keeping silent vigil for many years. What wonderful memories your videos bring back Tony Thanks for all your great work!!.😄👍

It is amazing how many figures survived the 80s still in the packaging. I have two Action Force re-branded GI Joes from childhood. The reason they weren't opened was advice from my mother. As they were doubles of figures I had, they were in the packaging, so if other figures get damaged, you can pull them out. This video is a good reminder to pay my shipping for my carded and unguarded Desert Rats waiting in the overseas postal centre.

I was just reorganizing some stuff this weekend and I had a G.I.Joe collection from 1997 and the blister slid off the card. Just fell off. Not to mention the issues of the new retro Indiana Jones figures falling off the card in retail. So yes, seeing a 1982 figure still MOC is amazing.

What a wonderful collection. I so regret that I let my Action Force go once I reached adulthood. If I ever get into collecting vintage this would be my starting point. Another great video , cheers Tony.

Really awesome stuff Tony! I only dabble with carded figures in my collection but watching this video really did drive me to find some more of them to get. I love the simple art of the cardbacks on these figures and maybe one day if I find one I can get it to the United States since they are very hard to come by here!

Absolutely brilliant toy range and agree they look beautiful on display. But boy is it a wormhole when you do start collecting these, especially when there are slight variants in figures and cards as well as that ever so faithful palitoy “Friday special”. It can be never ending, 😉

Fantastic examination what it means to collect Mint in Package toys. I would add one other element to the 3 you discussed, but I can't sum it up in 1 word: What to do with the collection after you are gone. Many of these toys are beautiful works of art deserving to be protected for future generations. I have seen some collections that have rare, one of a kind items. These collections need to be donated to a museum or some kind of Archive. I mainly collect many Punch-Out Books from the 60's to the present. These books are so rare because in order to assemble the models within the pages, the book will need to be destroyed. Some of the less rare books only show up for around $20.00 US. But some of the rarer books can be $300 to $500+ if and when they show up on eBay. It is my hope that I can leave these books to a library Archive so future generations can see a part of pop-culture history.

I remember in the 80's I bought an Eagle comic, and that week they gave away a Zforce figure. That's how I got my radio operator.

Pretty amazing that those turned up carded at JoeFest/Valacon. I wonder where they came from? I've seen a few carded Action Force figures for sale here in South Africa for around R2500/US$140. No Arctic trooper though, unfortunately.

With you 100% Tony, I was there man! Loved the first AF figures and those specials were amazing! I remember my Mum getting the mountain set for my mates birthday, lucky bugger. I got the snow one for mine that year. Followed the battle action force comic too and what a time to be a little lad! Keep up the awesome work mate!

The carded Mountain and Artic set was released in '83. Series 1 & 2 where available into '86 when they became discontinued and replaced by Gi Joe figures from the '83/84 line on Palitoy Cards. By '87 Hasbro first released the '85 line with the Gi Joe card art in Uk & Europe.

being from the G I Joe side of the world, The Action Force Toys are like a Bad-ass alternate universe I was NEVER aware of before seeing the videos of various Collector channels. The authentic style real-world details are less cartoony, while still having future-tech and sci-fi elements. The minimal points of articulation seem to make a more robust figure, with leeway to sculp individual molds (no rust or rot)Meanwhile my box of joes have seemed to have met a devising fate in storage like they were all 'put to the Rack' and split at the waist from snapped bands.

This has come at just the right time Tony, my collection is becoming much more diverse these days and I have nothing representing action force or GI Joe in the collection room, and as I have zero knowledge on action force figures, this video has helped massively as having looked at action force MOC figures, I was surprised how varied the prices are, as well as easier to obtain cheaper / less desirable items. This has given me enough knowledge to go off and make a start, thanks Tony 👍

This is an easy answer for me I usually like to have a MOC and a loose example of my favorite figures and vehicles one to display and one to hold and pose but I find the packaging and the artwork (if any) of the Action Force line very bland so if I ever aquire any carded/boxed figures or vehicles I have no issues with opening them... Also I like to add for some reason this toy line is one I like to see some play wear on I like to see they were played with and enjoyed

What will happen when the last of the generation that played with these toys as kids dies off? The nostalgia factor will no longer exist to anything like the degree necessary to support the current pricing structure, methinks. How many collections will either be handed over to kids to play with, or end up in landfill?
