I am. I have voiced this exact sentiment since I overstood what drafting entails here in the states. I'm with you on this; wholeheartedly. Being forced into war by a country who claims, we the people, have freedom. Where is the freedom if males are being forced to sign up for the draft?

The military does provide that. These people act like in the past, all these 18 year olds were ready for war. No, they weren't they needed to be conditioned first. 90% of the military is preparation, only about 10% is actually fighting.

In Times of war, the military drops their enlistment standards and will give young men the option to join the military instead of going to jail. That’s what that lady was saying with the stop and frisk policies…. instead of getting a few years for whatever petty stuff they put on them they will have the option to join the military for four years and get off with a clean record. They did this after 911 when they need more recruits for Afghanistan. I definitely understood what she was saying yall should double back and look into that

Let folks who have never been to war tell you how “hard” you have to be to go through it. I served for 16 years and did 9 deployments on various carriers and it didn’t take being hard to get through them. It took learning to deal with people’s BS 24/7 for 9 months. There’s no fear of the enemy harming or boarding a carrier because it’s one of the most guarded piece of American property. A sailor who does paperwork doesn’t need to be hard to do their tasks and the sailor doing the paperwork is just as important to the mission as the SEAL doing sneaking missions. I’m only speaking from the Navy side cause that’s what I know first hand but there are jobs where “hardness” is almost counterproductive to the mission in every branch.

Nobody is ready until you go through boot camp. You don’t go to the military “ready” for war. That’s why there’s basic training.

She’s right! This generation of kids are very different. They don’t know how to really struggle or do without! They get easily offended, hurt and don’t know how to navigate for themselves without direction. I’m a high school teacher and these kids are built different!

After 21 yrs in the army , no generation is ready for and if you think you are ready you are sick… we train and prepare as best as we can and some of us raise to the occasion and some don’t but I still appreciate their service
