Cardiac asthma is the medical condition of intermittent wheezing, coughing, and shortness of breath that is associated with underlying congestive heart failure (CHF).[1] Symptoms of cardiac asthma are related to the heart's inability to effectively and efficiently pump blood in a CHF patient.[2] This can lead to accumulation of fluid in and around the lungs (pulmonary congestion), disrupting the lung's ability to oxygenate blood.[3]
Cardiac asthma carries similar symptoms to bronchial asthma, but is differentiated by lacking inflammatory origin.[1][4] Because of the similarity in symptoms, diagnosis of cardiac versus bronchial asthma relies on full cardiac workup and pulmonary function testing.[2][5]
Treatment is centered on improving cardiac function, maintaining blood oxygen saturation levels, and stabilizing total body water volume and distribution.[1][5]

Had long periods of cough and asthma symptoms, had lungs checked for Tuberculosis and Pneumonia which had negative results. Doctor suggested it was just asthma. I suspected differently, luckily checked ECG which resulted in further diagnosis for heart diseases. Would never have thought lung disease symptoms would manifest due to heart disease.

Been diagnosed with asthma ….I believe I have this it feel like there is something wrong with me heart. I have all these symptoms except swollen feet . Calling my doctor.

very sorry, l am also confused l was diagnosed with asthma its so bad that most of the attacks l end up getting injections and put on the oxygen tank. It is not getting better because l wheeze louder and people think maybe l exaggerate things, l also shiver l feel extreme cold. l suspect a heart failure

I am asthmatic and also have a heart condition that gets me out of breath. So, trying to see what my shortness of breath is can be very hard! I also have angina and the chest pain I get stresse me 😢. I take nitroglycerin. I've had 2 heart ablations, so my cardiologist always asks me for my shortness of breath. I take beta blockers and also asthma medication as well. It's so hard 😫 😢

@MedicalCentric Yes, I have both a cardiologist and a pulmonologist. I see them routinely so I can manage both conditions. I have medication to manage both as much as possible. It's just hard when some of those medications clash. Heart medication can clash with lung medication. Thank you for your response!!

I have most of the symptoms. Went to the doctor and told me to get some tests done to check if this could be cardiac asthma. I experience most of the mentioned symptoms, except swollen feet. Got some of the tests done today and will get results in about 5 days. Kinda scared 🥲
