Heard a hell of a story from years back about Birmingham on their way back from a game at Cardiff but stopped in some small town not too far away and ended up in a massive brawl with some Swansea lads who were on their way back from a London game. Fighting spilled out onto the streets and round the corner over a bridge and then down an embankment where more fighting occurred. What stopped the fight (keep in mind it was dark) was the sight of a massive freight train hurtling towards them, lights blazing and horn blasting to tell everyone to move or end up dead. So everyone scarpered. One of the Blues lads realised he'd lost his wallet in the melee so the next day, another Bluenose drove him back to South Wales where they found the town, found the pub and tried to retrace their steps. Eventually they went down this embankment and sure enough in the spot where the scrapping happened, the wallet was there untouched. He was well happy and no money was missing. But the two Brummies looked around and wondered where the tracks were. Some old bloke walking his dog told them that it used to be a railway line but there'd been no tracks since the 60s and no trains on it since the 50s and now it was just a pathway. They got the hell away from there as quick as they could.

In the 80s not the 11/5/85 day I don't think but Leeds were on our way back from brum, wolves etc. old bill rerouted the train so it wouldn't stop at victoria( yes older reds will remember it was Victoria till much later ) when we sussed it someone pulled the cord ( no other passengers were on. 200 to 300 of us got off at miles platting and rolled almost down the hill. The old bill hadn't sussed it we walked right into Manchester by the bridge at the arndale centre what a melee..can't remember exactly which way round but think United were away at Liverpool and Everton at City all the firms except united were at it in front of train station and by arndale, United train got in a few mins later haha the old bill got a few kickings that day why..no horses on duty the old bill were clueless the red who called me a liar earlier then did know me funny either you didn't go to games at that age and I never said who did who it was a free for all

I was in one of those 2 taxis. We got a coach into Barrybados undetected and then got 2 taxis to Canton. Plan was to meet a few of the others at the top end and take a stroll back through Canton. Plenty of Cardiff miling around as we came through, clocked us so we knew if we got out 10 handed wed have been annihilated lol..we're game, not stupid 😅 plus didnt wanna fuck up the plans by attracting untold ob. Got to the top at some boozer to meet the others and started walking back down for a play up. As we started the trek heddlu landed but we carried on down. Fair few scuffles on the way down, some managed to get into one of the boozers and start a fire lol. Fair few missles getting lobbed into us from different boozers 😂 Got down the bottom where there was a decent sized boozer to the right of us. That emptied and more scuffles ensued with heddlu working overtime to try contain the situation. A few of us got out and managed to have a bit of fun until one of the yellow heddlu vans decided to run me over 😢😂 We then got rounded up and held up for a while before we got into Ninian where we got into a bit of a thing with ob,seats skimmed, few fisty cuffs etc..nice hot day aswell from what i recall. 06 the year i think.

Northampton play off was the worst personally for me. Lots of casuals turned from everywhere to have a go We arrived and started fighting immediately with a pub me drove by with 2 mini buses 30 proper lads lakeys crew. As we started to get at the ground i could see groups of lads fighting and rolling down grass hill we got spicy again. Eventually in ground shit game 3.1 lose so we left early for the waiting mob of lads, from multiple clubs trying to fight our way up the hill. It got real messy Anais went down i grab him back up Stanley Colin was losing his shit! A English lad had a horrific face injury by bottle. The 50 lads that left the stadium early ended up being about 30 proper lads that went up tge hill and sown it my than 2 times Basically no arrests as well 😂

Cardiff barely played half of the Midlands clubs when it mattered, they were in the lower leagues apart from playing Wolves in their decline and maybe Blues early 90s. Cardiff didn't play Leicester between 1982 and 2004 or Forest 1977 to 2003.

Not to mention when Albion stopped them on the Birmingham Rd and then again down by the motorway island. The trouble is too many people believe all of Silly Gilly Shaw's bullshit over the years. Yet we've all seen him shit it and claim to be West Brom as his crew ran off down the Halfords lane. Then like a real hard Man he hit a guy from behind. Except for the usual firms like Leeds, West ham etc, the only time I ever saw I prober firm come to The Hawthornes was Bristol City around the late 90's.

I remember a couple of those run ins 🙂.... The mid 80's night match when Cardiff arrived on the Kop carpark about 15 minutes into the game. They were lobbing rocks up at the back of the Kop. Mid 90's, the group who arrived at New Street early. In our defence, we didn't get the message to leave that group alone, just a call to say they'd arrived. That bigger group that arrived later, was always going to get picked up by the OB. Seem to recall the scuffle at New Street was quite early, about 9.30am. He mentions Bar St. Martins, but that morning, we were in PJ's. The Canton incident.... I presume that was Brum's last game at Ninian ? If so, that's the lads off the coach that went to Barry Island. They then got taxis to the cricket club in Canton.

Annis I know along with a fair few Soul Crew and I can see where your coming from with the Welsh thing because I am Welsh. As it goes the first off I saw was Cardiff at Blackpool oooh must have been either 87 or 88 was in Blackpool on a jolly went in for nothing with 20 mins to go in the Blackpool end... 20-30 Cardiff came in recognised a load as they were from Holyhead Jackie Welsh ,Googoo and a couple of others...came out the ground told the lads to talk Welsh hahaha . Boothen and the paddock in the Vic ... the graveyard used to be the place from what I'm told off older stokies and lads from Wolves and baggies .

I hated changing new street back in the day, never knew if you would run into them, Birmingham were rough and turned up. Wolves I despise, they battered us in the subway when we were 16, guess everyone takes a beating but these were massive guys in there like 30s, just battering us. Also as a Leicester fan, I have never heard of riaz khan, way before my time, but you recognize or have heard of all the old faces that used to be into it.

We never really had it with Birmingham, so I can't rate them! But I know they had a good firm back then! These days, Swansea will walk all over them! And it's been proved! When you did come to Swansea, the most I've seen Birmingham bring down here was in a FA cup draw, and there were about 400 of you tops ! We've been to Birmingham many a time with THOUSENDS and walked all around your city, only coming across a few small mobs that didn't want to know FACTS!!!

Leicester ,I remember in the mid to late eighties at Ipswich. We beat Leicester 3- 2 at home( Ipswich) and it put them in the bottom three. They went nuts and even forced their way into the churchman’s stand ,it was toe to toe ,but to be fair Ipswich were not steam rolled over. Not seen so many Harry Krishna’s fighting ,flowing orange capes every where.I admit to not hanging around outside as Leicester were everywhere looking very pissed off.

Remember in the early eighties at Wolverhampton railway station it was horrendous. Four Wolves fans went to attack one opposing supporter and he was knocked out on his feet and the others backed off. Unbelievably the police came and when the guy who had been knocked out and causing lots of problems came round they asked if he wanted to press charges he is the guy who should have been charged.
