Filmed in 1979. We remember those lost on HMS Sheffield only a few short years later

That cheeky twinkle in Bob's eyes. He was like a permanently fascinated child. I remember him well and I really liked his presenting style. Clear, concise, informative and enthusiastic, and always with that smile and those cheeky eyes!

Back in the days when TV was actually good, with presenters who spoke English.

WOW, I have just happened upon this quite by accident! I have never even heard of it? I was going to watch a movie tonight... Instead its going to be a gentle journey downstream with Mr Symes! From one miniaturist to another, one GIANT (but very small) high five! Thank you 🏆

My abiding memory of this programme was the model helicopter, even though I was only about 6 at the time.

I don't remember this series with Bob Symes. Was it shown on the BBC and at what day and time?.I also wished after the Model World series finished, that the second series would cover SciFi modeling.

Jeez imagine the BBC today, telling you today to go and tackle the electrics and central heating in your house without being CORGI registered.

I wonder what Bob Symes would Make of Models today?? these days you have almost ready to fly planes and helicopters as well ready to fly and they have rechargeablr batteries thanks to mobile phone technology as for model railways They are now a lot more detailed and that is N'Gauge nearly all locomotives are now DCC and you can put sound in them N'Gauge and 00 Gauge

On the off chance anybody knows, is there somewhere that the liquid modeling plastic stuff can be bought, or do I have to make it my self? I have a bunch of models that could use just that tiny bit of plastic to make them stand out.
@aidanodonnell13446 жыл бұрын
I have heard that you can make the liquid plastic using sprue and liquid cement. Cut the sprue into small pieces, put it into a jar and pour in liquid cement. I'd think there would be some trial and error in getting the ratios right.

02:53 "And meeting people". But isn't this an area where you'll meet an awful lot of bores, social inadequates and anoraks.
@ianmedium5 жыл бұрын
Cool2BCeltic actually I think there are more of those now hiding behind their cell phones and computers than there were back in those days where there would be a model railway club nearly everywhere. I know as a child growing up in the UK in the sixties and seventies these folks were incredibly generous with their time and advice to my fledgling start in the hobby. There was intelligent conversation and real knowledge gained from personal experience rather than what one finds now, someone who does little but spouts lots of opinions based upon what they have read “on the web” I would say back then people were far more socially capable than the millennium generation now.
