COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course provides an overview of policies and procedures related to medication management for elderly residents living in a residential care environment. By the end of this course you will be able to: 1) define the differences between medication assistance and medication administration, 2) identify relevant laws and regulations pertaining to medication management for the elderly, 3) describe general principles and staff responsibilities related to resident self-administration of medication, 4) understand basic definitions, acronyms, and terminology related to medication management. This course is intended to contribute to caregiver and/or staff training in the categories of Medication Management, Medication Policies, and Procedures and Best Practices. Learners must pass final quiz with 80% or more; may re-take as often as needed.
