8 foot ladder
3/16" Allen wrench
1/4" flat tip screwdriver

Mention that my awning will run backwards but thought it was normal.

Yes, your awning will roll up backwards if you continue to hold the extend button after the awning fully extends

@MsJumpingflea Fixed. I did s fallow up video. Turns out they used the wrong switch. Took some doing but I got it figured out with multiple emails and phone calls to Carefree and the switch manufacturer

Does retaining pin hold the tube on the arm?

Yes. You pull the clip out into the detached position and pull the arm off the tube shaft. Just be careful not to drop the tube
