Donald MacIsaac Alto sax and tenor sax are in different key and pitch. Tenor plays deeper while alto sax higher. Each type has its own distinct sound. He is playing an alto saxophone but it sound like tenor.

Let's be honest he probably choose that instrument when he was a child and has 7+ years of practice. Anyone could be at his level at his age if they started playing at 8 or 9 or earlier.
