Carhartt has completely changed their denim line, and people are wondering why. An entirely new denim, fit, and color options mean that the new Carhartt jeans are a totally different animal, but are they better for your needs?

Reviews of clothing, boots, and accessories for men, along with style advice and life philosophy. I've been working with my hands for my entire life as a mechanic, tow truck driver, and eventually a licensed electrician. Being a blue collar guy, I look for certain elements in a product: is it durable? Is it high-quality? Will it perform well over its service life? Whether boots, pants, jackets, or tools I believe it's best to buy once and cry once by getting the best you can afford. With so many options these days, choosing the best product can become a difficult decision, but that's where I come in. Helping you stay stylish, rugged, and handsome.
I don't care where it's made as long as it's made well and allows you to own less and own better.

Honestly for work jeans, riggs by wrangler overtook Carhartt long ago. My Riggs Work Horse and Utility Jeans were far superior to my Carhartt Carpenter jeans in everyway. Its nice to see they updated but too little too late for me.

I agree I bought a pair of wrangler riggs workhorse after having carhartt for a few year. I own four pairs, one good pair and three work pairs that have survived 6 years in a welding shop/woods/and a whole lot of abuse. I don't get why just about every video I've seen of guys comparing jeans they never show them.

Thing about those (and Japanese ones) is that they're basically luxury/artisanal denim. They're usually made with unique fabrics, special stitch details, woven on a special loom, chain stitched... and on it goes.

Yep definitely a tier of clothes, from going out clothes, to work clothes, then lounging-at-home clothes. Then after would go to yard-work/hobby clothes like when working on my car. The last bottom rung they would become clothes to use for painting, that you would throw out after the job was done. There would also be sometimes when I would make patches out of the old jeans, to reinforce another pair.

I'll have to check these newer styles out for myself and compare them to my Duluth jeans. I've had a few pairs of my ballroom work jeans for 3-4 years and they're still very functional, the crotch gusset makes all the difference if you're continuously up and down at your job like myself.

Love my wranglers, only pants I haven’t ripped to date have been Ridgecut jeans and wrangler ATG pants, but their retro series and Ariat jeans are my favorite with ridgecut being good for just a cheap pair that hold up fairly well between general contracting and farm/ranch work and being pretty comfortable

Love the reinforced belt loop! I also wear my keys hooked to my belt loop so that's a good thing! Wonder how soft these are having ring spun cotton, i'll have to try them! I only buy underwear that has "ring spun" cotton and it makes a world of different in comfort, fruit of the loom makes regular white briefs that are made with ring spun cotton which i highly recommend trying, very comfy.

Carhartt lost my business when they killed the durability of the B73 on the last redesign. I will wait until there are some long term reviews. Until then i will keep wearing $15 costco jeans which seem to last alot longer. Funny thing is I dont put stuff in my back pockets except for my wallet. The pocket corners give out sliding in and out of machinery and climbing in and out of lift trucks all day.

Another great video, Carl! In my opinion, the new ones are nice, but I prefer the old look in terms of the colors and leather patch. As for the tiers of my clothes: I am a part time painter and my real last resting place for the work clothes are when they get paint spots on them. Then I only use them to paint stuff with. I never got the idea of "designer" clothes with paint spots and splashes on them, which is understandable, I guess.

This is nicholas , I had to start reitirng my Carhartts all together and even some of my wranglers. I switched up to ariats since i need fr for work. I work large construction and do everything from driving rig, operating heavy equipment , laboring down in the ground or flagging traffic. Then we also farm and ranch , and volunteer fire fighting along with being an environmental tech on the weekends. So ive also recently gotten into the cinch western and rodeo jeans and literally fell in love with them. Comfort and that great dark blue faded look.

I absolutely have a rotation of clothes for good for public, good for working (rips, stains, probably patches or obvious repairs from my bad sewing), and good for only at home (usually rips in the crotch that can’t be fixed anymore). As a kid there would be the hand me down life cycle too that could be from any of the thee tiers. Any thrifty family middle class or below likely has something similar. Good memories

I used to get their rugged flex, and they would last approx a year or more. Last pair was very different quality of material and blew out the inseam in about 6 months. Around that time Wranglestar made a video about how he will never buy Carhardtt again, mainly due to a huge decrease in quality. I then found out that Patagonia makes work pants. I have yet to really try them out, but I did buy a couple of pairs and they seem really well made. For now, just have been wearing some Levi's I got on sale. My job is more on the maintenance side now and involves a fair bit of desk work as well, so they seem to be holding up ok. Crotch gusset is a good idea though.

Patagonia “work” pants are trash. The whole iron forge line is made for people to do PR photos on some sustainable eco synthetic hydroponic salmon hatchery, not any actual physical activity. The fit is absurd, the rear pockets are designed by an alien or something, the waist or top block or whatever is shaped like a refrigerator. Only upside is the material feels nice on the skin. And don’t listen to Cody. Rich tech guys LARPing as frontiersmen is so tiresome, even if they’ve been doing it for 10 years.

Thank you for great video. Somthing that annoys me about the Carhartt changes are the colors. People usually laugh when I say I like the dark brown color because its the color of dirt. Dirty is what they become when working and it just dosnt show as much in that dark brown . Probably a desision made by office people. Another is the dark blue. If a company wants its employees to ware a uniform, its probably navy blue polyester. To match in cotton Carhartt no longer makes the double front work pant in this color. This is the reason I was happy to have found your channel. Carhartts is no longer working for me

That is stock footage from a website, not me. It’s common practice to use stock footage to keep the visuals diverse and interesting.

20 Years in construction Lets face it, clothes don't last. I only wore Rustlers. $12 at Walmart. Hard to beat and they kinda looks good on me too if I can say so myself. For work purposes do I buy a size bigger than I normally wear. Carthartt make a damn good product but their price is just too much for my taste. Having said that ,I do have a pair of Carthartt bibs that will outlast me.

Carhartt fucked up big time when they discontinued the B07 and replaced it with those shitty Utility loggers.

Picked up a pair of their new style double knee duck pants a few weeks ago, tore through the knees in 4 days. Not impressed.

Sorry, the new Carhartt jeans are a downgrade to their entire line. They also discontinued their traditional fit line, another poor decision. Sadly, after wearing Carhartt for 20 years, I'm moving on to other brands.

Have 2 tiers of Carhartt clothes. I wear almost new to work. I don’t like looking like a dirtbag on the way to work. I wear my stained or torn Carhartt around the yard. I am a Diesel mechanic. I don’t like the double front pants. That’s for welders…
