I feel like your video will help me have better success with orchids. I have always discarded them after blooming because I could never get them to rebloom. BTW I totally had your voice in my head telling me to "drown that hoe" when I was outside watering my containers. Thank you for such great and informative videos.
@shelby6Ай бұрын
instead of discarding just plant them in the garden they can sit there happily and likely bloom too

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!! I have over 200 orchids, and you got everything right! There are 2 things that drive me crazy about phalaenopsis dealers. Ice cubes and dye. Ice cubes will eventually burn the roots, and those fake colors always come back white IF the poor orchid survives to grow another spike, but they don't tell you that.

Thanks to your videos I managed to help my mother care for her orchids for once, before that they would always rot and die after about a month but now she's had the same orchid plants for over a year and she's leafy and green and healthy! Currently working on getting some new spikes and hopefully blooms as well 🤞🤞 so thank you so much!!

I needed this video bc I think I purchased the exact same yellow ones 🤣 I have mine in water at the moment bc I saw someone else growing theirs like that at the dentist office my daughters go to. It's starting to grow another new leaf on it and new healthy roots that way. Eventually I will switch to orchid bark, just not sure when to do that though. This is the first orchid I've ever cared for, I'm just rolling with it though. Your video was very informative, they always are though. You are so pretty in them too! 😍

Sincere question: orchids in the wild often grow on trees; is getting water in the crown really so bad for the plant? I’m honestly considering putting all of mine in my avocado and guava trees. They seem to do much better without my clumsy care.

Nice video very informative. I do have a question What can you use if there’s a pest infestation? Any recommendations for orchids? Thanks
@shelby6Ай бұрын
You can use neem oil (5ml) mixed with warm water (1litre) and dishwasher liquid (2.5ml) and shake well. It's effective against millie bugs, scale, thrips, spider mites, fungal infections etc just spray on plants every 3 days in the evening as it can burn the leaves if in the sun. Try wipe off as much of the pests either rinsing them off or *gently* wiping them with paper towel or damp cloth

HELP!! I keep killing my orchids!! I hope you read this Krystal cuz you are one of the very few plant gurus I enjoy watching (and trust implicitly). I LOVE your videos and your vibe in general. So, I think I might be overthinking it (I used to use stupid effing ice cubes but don’t do that anymore). I have 3 orchids with virtually no roots…I’ve tried perlite, leca, water (treated), orchid mix (which I found to contain too much soil) but afraid to try only orchid bark without any roots. Again, HELP!! Thanks so much. 🪴❤ Oh yeah, and I only have N & S facing windows (I’ve been using grow lights) and live on the east coast of Canada. The temperature is around 65-70°F most days (some days 75°ish) and 55-65° overnight this time of year. Peak temp will hit 90s with some days over 100°. Humidity ranges from maybe 60% on “good” days to 90-95% when it feels like the devil is breathing down your neck. 🥵

I have a question. What fertilizer do you use when you grow plants in just water? I notice you in the one short where you changed the water and freshened it up you didn’t have to worry about ph or anything and it didn’t change the color of the water.

Sorry about the question. I got to searching your post and couldn’t find the one I was thinking of. I pretty sure I seen the one I was thinking of on someone else’s page now. I just wish I could remember who it was. Lol.

I would repot this particular phal as the roots are slowly rotting ( the silvery roots were not that silver....). You can repot phal thats in flower. It wont make a difference

Ive had to completely chop the spikes of several orchids before and they just never grew back, eventually i lose interest caring for a pot with 3 leaves in it and they die 😭 does anyone have any grow light recommendations? None of my plants seem happy with the light they’re getting from my south facing window but I’m worried ill just end up ordering a regular LED that doesnt actually have any UV for the plants
@bonniehyden962Ай бұрын
On average, if we trim everything as you instructed, how long does growing another spike and the next flowering take?
@PlantswithKrystalАй бұрын
It’s hard to say exactly but it could bloom once or twice a year so I’d say about 6 months.
