I was lucky to be in memphis when carl was part of a elvis convention I went to, loved the story that carl told about when elvis recorded blue suede shoes and carl coming into money, he said he got his wife a new kitchen his children some stuff and he said I had a little money left he said to the audience I got myself a cadillac coupe, he was a great man and sadly missed.

I worked as a courier in Jackson when Carl Perkins passed away. The day of his funeral procession I was in it because I had to deliver a Express package to someone attending the funeral. I didn't think to look around for Carl's friend's, I'm sure Johnny Case was there along with many who attended. As a FedEx courier, it's on time all the time so I delivered the package, it may've been one of his son's that took the package since it was a expected delivery.. Looking back, I should've pulled off to the side at a distance to pay my respects to Carl Perkins. It's a day I'll always remember. I delivered on that street and passed that house many times. I don't recall ever delivering a package there, if so it was a drop & go release. Thank you Spa Guy for doing what you do by giving us a inside glance of their life.

Great video. Watching this video and a few of your others you did with Stan Perkins has given me a new appreciation for Carl Perkins beyond his music. Love that home. The subtle things like the guitars on the house , the steel guitar in the yard and the initials in the pool let you know a star lives there without being obnoxious. Sort of a scaled down Graceland look. Not sure if you covered it in any of your past videos but Stan’s mention of the rights to Blue Suede Shoes going back to Carl has me researching what that was all about. They had to be worth quite a bit around that time. The residuals on that song from just Elvis’ covers of it had to be huge in that post 77 era.

Thank you Billy. I so appreciate these videos you’ve done with Stan about Carl. They bring back so many memories. So many times to and from Memphis I would stop at Carl’s house. Mrs Perkins was so nice. Got to spend time on Carls bus and got to see Carl perform so many times. A very memorable time at a small benefit in Huntington tn at a benefit for Eddie Cisco at a middle school gymnasium that had to feel very much like the shows in the 50s did. Got to hear him to daddy sang bass and Dixie friend that night for the only time. I got Carl stories for days. Singing with him on television was the thrill of a lifetime. I was one of the 3000 hands Stan (and Gregg and Steve) shook at the viewing and Carls funeral was surreal. Seeing George Harrison was surreal. When Carl died, the next day I said if it had been Elvis i would have left already. And threw a bag in the Car made the 10 hour drive. Billy I know we didn’t see eye to eye some time ago on a trivial matter but these videos really took be back to a fun part of my life. Thank you.

Great work Billy, as I always love seeing you and Stan, together, kibitzing as one might say;-) Any chance, in the future, you and Stan will be able to arrange a time to go inside as I would love to see the inside of the house and the recording studio, etc.??? I've also tried to always impart you're a God send, my far away friend, and one day we shall break bread as they say, as it will be an honor to meet you given what you have done. As this shared history of music, which so many of us love and enjoyed over the years, is something that is wonderful and brings people together in the most positive of ways and that should never be forgotten. While I've often also said that behind every great man, there's always a better woman, so please personally express my thanks to Mrs. Stallings for allowing you the latitude to do what you do! As this is one of the greatest repositories of history, I've ever seen. One of the great aspects of what you do, too, is make all of this available to those who may be older, housebound, and/or just don't have the time or the money to visit these great sites, when we know people from all over the world are interested!!! When as I always try to do, I will leave you only now, with a prayer and God's blessings!!! Sincerely and thoughtfully ~ Christopher P. Tyler

I was an 8th grade kid in 1978 and in London with my parents and family. We are staying at the Grovenor House across from Hyde park. Just so happens the British rock music awards were being held in the hotel ballroom. So im hanging out in the hotel lobby one morning waiting on the family to come down stand I spot this distinctive looking guy reading a newspaper sitting beside a guitar case. So I work up the nerve and ask the guy “ Do you play that guitar ? “ Je put down the newspaper and looked at me and said “ You ever heard of Blie suede shoes ? “ It was Carl Perkins and he couldn’t have been nicer so I ran upstairs and grabbed the family who all came down to meet him. Had his autograph for years but lost it. Saw Paul and Linda Mcartney stroll thru the lobby later that night on their way to the Rock music awards 🎼🎼

Carl was a true Guitar Hero -inspired The Beatles, The Stones , Led Zeppelin not to mention Eric Clapton - Very strong - I know he had a heavy heart and I know he missed his Brother - Wish I could have told him he inspired me also - Betcha he would have been very happy - even though I'm no body - he would treat me like I was - I may be wrong - but I doubt it -

Billy would you know the details on how Carl Perkins found out after Elvis died that Elvis originally didn’t want to record Blue Suede Shoes because he didn’t want to interfere with Carl’s success with that song. I have heard it said in a documentary that RCA wanted him to record it and Elvis waited until after Carl’s release had made it to #1 on the charts before he covered it.

Actually for a treat, anyone watch the Carl Perkins 1985 show at Capitol Theater - it’s on KZfaq. George, Eric Clapton, many others join him. But George was absolutely a little kid just thrilled to sing with his idol, and he credits the experience with getting him singing and performing again and returning to his solo career in the 80s..because George was in a serious funk and had lost confidence in himself at the time but being invited by Carl and singing with him gave him life again
