As a non-swimmer (I sink well!), I applaud your parents' waterproofing you at a young age. I'm one of those people who, with a Scuba rig, as long as I don't have to "ditch and recover," I'm absolutely deadly underwater, and totally confident. But I can NOT float - event with this fat ring around my waist! I just sink to the bottom.
