My read wasn't that Zoro was being proud, but that he was trying to keep Rika from getting into trouble from feeding him. As soon as Rika was out of danger, he ate the rice balls and asked Luffy to express his appreciation.

Something interesting to point out, you might notice that Luffy calls both Zoro and Koby his "friend" in the subtitles, but Zoro is part of the crew while Koby isn't. There's actually a distinction in Japanese between the way he calls Zoro his "friend" and the way he calls Koby his "friend". He calls Koby his "tomodachi" which is the common way of saying friend in Japanese, while he calls Zoro (and everyone else on the crew) "nakama". In the show they always translate "nakama" as friend, but it's really more accurate to say it means "comrade" or "brother in arms" or in the context of sport "teammate". Another way to look at it is Zoro and Luffy fight together towards a shared goal, while Luffy and Koby mutually support and respect each other's dreams from a distance. In the fandom we like to say "Nakama are friends even closer than family".

The comparisons to the live action are great. I think one of the reasons the LA worked so well is because it kicked off interest in the anime so it makes a lot of sense to keep bringing the LA up.

Zoro wasn't "being proud", but he saved the little girl Rika in that moment. As Helmeppo says right afterwards "Those who help criminals get executed". He was trying to save her.

@@AcedOnezthe way she died like that is on purpose to show the vanity of things.That no matter how strong you are still not invincible. You can still fall and hit your head one day. Kuina never lost to Zoro but lost to Down D. Stairs. Oda wrote Kuina specifically to die to give Zoro goal. Stairs is just one of the many tools he could use to make it happen.

Zoro telling the girl to go away in the beginning when she brought him the rice ball wasn't because he was proud or anything he was just trying to protect the kid because he knew that the marines would otherwise harm her too for feeding him and also later on when he asks Luffy to give him the rice ball that was stepped on, he does that to show his gratitude to the girl because she put in effort to make it for him not just because he was hungry.

Always remember, One Piece is the fantasy of just one Human created into artpanels over 25years. Almost every month of ALL 25years, One Piece was the #1 Sold Manga. If you like the humour now, you might not like it anymore in 3 arcs from now :D. Then you'll like it again in 6. You could switch from 1998 Anime ShonenMeta to 2008ShonenMeta in just a few days of bingewatch. Some arcs are masterpieces from nowdays meta-perspective but that differs from year to year. One Piece contains all and everything. And every Arc has a different package full of gems to enjoy. The ongoing experinece is another topic so enjoy the ride! Get Mods that know One Piece to the core, that might be the best thing to do at all. Love from germany❤

The thing I like about Luffy in the anime compared to the Live Action is that the Anime Luffy is upfront, and the most important is the message of Luffy’s character is shown through his actions, not what he says, while in the Live action Luffy tells the audience what Luffy is thinking.

21:10 I think Zoro’s story with Kuina is actually done quite well. Simple but effective. To me, it’s about the unfairness and abrupt nature of terrible accidents, yet having the willpower to persevere. We’re just as unsatisfied with what happened as Zoro is.

ange picking coby as the fav character in early one piece is so rare to see most people find early one piece coby to be very annoying with his constant denial to anything luffy or zoro said about their goals. so they lowered his annoying parts in the LA making him look more nervous looking.

Ange you should know The Grand Line is a vast part of the sea and the arcs are mostly made up of various islands we encounter. So The Grand Line won't be a single arc, it's a part of the sea where multiple arcs playout as a matter of fact, most of the arcs XD

The Backstory is the biggest difference in one piece anime because it is being handled perfectly. I believe it's how the anime backstory is handled that makes half of the reason why it hits you 100x harder Good luck as it arrives 😊❤

A bit of context about Zoro eating Onigiri (Rice Balls), at first he told the girl he doesn't want to eat it bc he knew Helmeppo will get her in trouble if she feed a criminal, and after the marine threw the girl out, Zoro asked Luffy to pick it up and feed him because Zoro is a nice guy and always show appreciations. And also fun fact, Zoro first move is even name after that rice balls the girl made for him (Onigiri)

Not sure if you heard this already, but for One Piece, fans usually don't talk about seasons, but rather "arcs" and "sagas". in the live action, they covered most of the "east blue saga" which takes place before they get to the grand line, and some of the arcs in that saga include eg. baratie and arlong park. when talking about how far you've gotten in the anime, we usually refer to the name of the current arc rather than episode numbers, which makes it easier to understand where you are in the story.

It is known throughout one piece that luffy’s devil fruit type :Paramecia is the weakest of the devil fruit and they always marketed his ability as lame, there are definitely other devil fruit users who have way cooler abilities than him. I think you guys will enjoy seeing all of them!

You'll notice a lot of changes between the LA and the anime. Most of them are small, but there are also some major restructurings that happened. One thing that's already noticeable is how much stronger luffy/zoro are in the anime relative to the LA. Another major difference will become apparent very soon as well. The LA did a great job overall, but just pointing this out so you're not left expecting things just because they were in the LA.
