From someone who lived with an undiagnosed brain injury for nearly four years: do not leave any stone unturned. You are worth every test, every result, and worth finding answers for. Unexplained illnesses take such a deep emotional toll on you and in my experience became emotionally detrimental. I found great healing and help in seeing a counselor who empowered me with tools to cope with what I was going through. I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone struggling with ongoing/unexplained health issues. You are such a beautiful woman, wife, and mom. I love how you are so present with your kids despite everything going on. You are so incredible and such an inspiration. Thanks for your bravery in sharing your life with us. I will continue to pray for answers/healing for y'all and that the Lord would encourage your spirits.

I've been to Mayo Clinic previously (for neurology) & all I needed was a referral by my primary care doctor & that got me onto the wait-list. If you're interested in getting a clinic like that, I would just call them to ask what is required to get onto the wait-list. I only had to be on the wait-list for about two months before I got an appointment.

Perhaps their neurology department is different, but my husband was able to get an appointment with their urology and oncology departments without a referral, as Mayo is in- network for his insurance. He waited less than two weeks for his appointments.

I got a referral to Mayo Ped Urology from my primary doctor, but a friend from our church just reached out to them! I think insurance requires it for certain situations (they will cover it as in network if you have a referral).

Like one mentioned prior, call whatever larger clinic you are interested in and just ask what is required. See if In-Network on your insurance, and speak to a financial specialist so you know what to expect . My first time , I was referred. Years later, we were in -network but Doctor referred too and we had an appointment within two weeks. We worked with Mayo for seven years or more, once or twice a year follow up appointments and they would go over everything and f needed to do a test, test again, or have me see another specialist, it was sometimes same day or next day.

Cardiologist sent him to an gastroenterologist and he couldn’t find anything. So my husband went online to find a phone number to Mayo Clinic. @Dorinda-Sevvy
@Dorinda-Sevvy 2 жыл бұрын
@@suzannerodriguez8600 I think maybe she has POTS and other conditions that have aggravated that response. Sometimes breast feeding or pumping or hormones fluctuating at all can aggravate a situation w POTS. And the high responses we are seeing due to Covid inflammation from active infections or the vaccination have made the cases I see dramatically higher. I hope Carlin gets answers and remission is possible, it’s so scary when it’s so unknown. Compression socks really make a huge difference with venous return of circulation- but my daughters having a hard time balancing that with the Florida heat right now too. Because temperature changes can really inspire episodes of convulsant syncope (the passing out). I pray for answers - it’s scary, dont I know😰🥰❤️

Was your daughter given the Gardisil vaccine? Mine was and this all came on for my daughter also.
@Dorinda-Sevvy
@Dorinda-Sevvy 2 жыл бұрын
@@lesliejones6086 yes, when she was old enough to receive it she did get it. But I never noticed any connection. She got The other naughty vaccine (Moderna) because her daddy (my husband) got the original strain of the virus and almost died. She wanted to see him so badly. Although she received her required vaccines for school, etc... she still had her first pass out with seizure-like activity, when she was going through puberty. At that time the episodes were once a year at most. Now it’s weekly. It’s scary. Temperature change, hormones, illness, not wearing her compression socks, stress, and fatigue all seem to exacerbate it. The compression socks helped so much- gave that venous return to the heart- and now she is taking very strong heart medication that I hate she has to take. It’s really controversial medication and she will have to come off of it when she wants to have a baby (it’s dangerous for bleeding AND toxic to a developing baby/pregnancy.) But she was so desperate. The socks were great, but it’s summer in Florida, and temperature sensitivity is part of the initiating symptoms- so she’s trying everything. Failed a stress test within 4 minutes (her heart rate went over 180) and failed a tilt table. EKG and EEG fine. Our next step is a brain MRI (she’s had a clean CT) and she’s frustrated, discouraged, and so stressed- which makes it worse. She’s seeing rheumatology now, with neurology and cardiology, and that doctor has helped her the most. She has been placed on hydroxychloroquine actually now in addition to her other meds and so far, so good. But the short answer is that , yes, she received the HPV Gardasil vaccine... but it was years after she started with the episodes of “convulsant syncope.” It looks so much like seizures and Carlin’s story is almost identical. My daughter is also on a high sodium diet. I would suggest Carlin goes to rheumatology also... THEYVE discovered some inflammatory markers in her blood that are not within normal limits. Rheumatology gave a whole different perspective and we are trying everything. My daughter is 24 and needs her life back. She’s scared to leave the house! She’s having a hard time working at all, as the socks have helped but they are HOT. I pray for her everyday we need answers. The unknown is the scariest part. Curious- what is the relationship to Gardasil?

@@Dorinda-Sevvy, POTS is really hard to treat. One of my son's sisters-in-law has it. The only thing that helps her, when she is having a flare-up, is intravenous Benadryl. Your kiddos are so adorable! Sorry your walking through this. If you get frustrated with the allopathic medical system the functional medicine route is an option. In my experience during the first visit ,( it was a neurological issue) they knew what was wrong and helped fix some of the symptoms. (Its a long appointment but worth it). They didn't just fix it with meds, or tell me there was nothing they could do but went to the root of the problem. It was a really good experience. Praying you find answers and healing.

With my Catamenial Epilepsy, all of my EEGs are normal, always. Not once has an EEG shown anything. My seizures were triggered by hormones. @LoveAuntAshley- I don't mean to contradict you, but since Carlin has a history of a blood clotting disorder (as do a couple of her sisters). Other issues make Carlin's condition not "neurological altogether". Dr. Vick- her former OB or Perinatologist, had some sisters while they were pregnant taking blood thinners for the clotting disorder. If I remember correctly, Carlin went to a different OB Dr. who decided she would not take the blood thinning injections (heparin)while pregnant, but I think wait until afterwards?? She has a history of anemia, and has had iron infusions. She was also in the ER soon after Layla was born, feeling terrible!! I think they diagnosed her with "Aseptic Meningitis. " per Carlin. Her sister, Alyssa, has heart issues. All of these factors are important when coming up with a diagnosis. NurseKellyfromMD💜🙏🦀

I relate so much to what you're going through. I went through it a few years ago. Months of not knowing what's wrong with me with doctors not having an answer or treatment. Now when photos from that time come up in my memories, I feel proud of myself because I know I was in pain then, mentally and physically, but I was still able to find joy in live life. That is what you're doing, when you're not crying, you are living, you are smiling, you are experiencing Joy. You are strong and should be so proud of yourself.

It’s great that you all keep it real. That’s what we’re watching for. Layla sticking her nose, Carlin feeling upset, it’s real. It’s so bad timing for Evan just qualified, and now can’t work, and you just purchased your house. It’s stressful too! Real makes us feel. ♥️🇳🇿

I'm still wondering if you could be a Covid long hauler. I've read about other people who are doing similar to you, especially since you can't get answers, one lady keeps passing out with no answers. Its just something to think about. Anything is worth checking into.

Have you heard of F.N.D? I just saw a 24 year old woman on Instagram and at around 18 or 19 years old she started having seizures, blanking out, had tics and feels foggy after an episode. I have Epilepsy that came about in my 20’s, I had absent seizures and grand mal seizures. It’s absolutely horrible to just drop without warning and “lose time” and often have injuries. It took about a year to get the right medication but I found Epilum and I haven’t had a seizure in over 7 years. I wish you all the best, you are loved and supported by so many. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Hello Carlin and Evan! I understand how difficult this time must be for you. After watching your videos, I have learned that I went through a health issue very similar to this about 3 years ago with seizures/episodes of unknown origin. I would be happy to share my tips or recommendations with you both if you are interested. Hope it goes well for you!

When you guys have your cardiologist appointment, please make sure you mention POTS to the doctor as a possibility. In 2018, I started having seizures that was misdiagnosed as epilepsy. I was put on seizure meds that made me feel like a zombie but didn’t stop the episodes. After lots of more tests and hospital stays I found out I have POTS from my cardiologist. It sounds like this could be a similar thing for Carlin. Either way, your whole family is in my prayers that you find answers 🤍. Thank you for being so brave and inspiring and using your platform to share your story.

Question - Have you noticed what seems to be a correlation or maybe just bizarre coincidence between the types of activities Carlin does and her seizures. They seem to be much more prevalent during times when someone's brain would be chronically engaged from a lot of surrounding stimuli from people i.e. the store cash and carry days, church events, shopping trips with lots of family, big gatherings in Nashville or attending family sporting events to name a few. Stimuli that isn't normally present in the quiet of your home. Could be the stimuli to the cardiovascular system or a combo as well. Just seems like they might be triggers in some way. Just an observation. ☺️❤️

I had noticed something similar which is why I am wondering if the at home or hospital EEG will show because it does seem like it is with a lot of stimuli from other people.

I was going to comment the same. It seems too me it’s a stimulation thing. I’m chronically ill and I know how hard it is too not live a “normal” life.

I'm wondering if constant exposure to all the chemicals on brand new clothes has anything to do with Car lin's condition? I'm wondering if constantly working with textiles for the boutique, being in the boutique, or even just shopping at other stores have impacted, if not caused, her condition? A now cancer free friend mentioned how she came to a realization how much chemicals she had exposed herself to for many many years just from spending hours shopping. I personally had a strange experience of feeling like I was passing out one time when I was in an imports store that carried all kinds of goods from around the world. I later realized that a lot of their products and furniture had been treated heavily with chemicals.

@@jhk3257 those same chemicals are what causes a lot of things. Seizures are a listed side effect of many vaccines.

Y'all are so funny! I just love y'all! Layla is super cute cheering her little brother on. And singing, "We don't talk about Bruno. No, no, no." 🤣 Carlin, I'm so sorry you didn't get some answers. Maybe this is the Lord teaching, helping you to trust Him in knowing that He will lead you to the dr that Will give the answers needed. And in that process, you might be able to help and show someone, to trust the Lord's leading through your testimony. Looking forward to see if you cut your hair or not. You're gonna look fantastic either way!!

I am a RN. I previously worked in a neuro unit. The continuous EEG is basically like you had before. The machine with big computer screen will be there in your room. You will be hooked on that machine for the entire time. The cords are long enough to get to the bathroom. You will not be able to shower. Basically be prepared to just be in bed. I don't know if things have changed but there will be a screen at the nursing station turn on to monitor you. We used to tell patients, just don't do anything crazy because we can see you.

Been following and praying for a while. I had a freak grand mal seizure a few years ago and can totally relate what you’re going through. It took months to figure out. But I was so weak physically afterwards and it took a long time but I did recover. For me it was all due to low sodium and I never really got clear answers. Just one by one they would test me for things, but I’d always have people pray over me before appointments for healing, and every test the results would be negative. It was a gradual process, but as long as I have enough salt and electrolytes I feel ok. But that’s my story and everyone’s is different. But I do believe God is a God of miracles and He still heals today, so praying you get answers and complete healing.
