Carlisle United have finally started work to complete the East Stand at Brunton Park, 28 years after the structure was built!

Lincoln City fan here, thanks for your very informative video about the new (old) East Stand. I have only been to Brunton Park once, in 2004 when we won 2-0 (the second goal being THAT goal scored by Mark Bailey from inside his own half just before the end) and I must say that I loved your ground. I have a good friend who is a Carlisle fan so I always look out for your results. Sorry that your recent stay in League 1 was as short as it was this time around but, hey, here's to an uplifting future for you guys. I am well old enough to remember you topping the old First Division after 3 (?) games back in the 70s and always wished that one day, Lincoln City would emulate that. I'm still wishing and praying! Best of luck for next season.

We go down, we go down. Honestly next season brings real hope with our new owners, grounds being sorted after almost 30 years, team can be revamped, the owners and us as fans are fully behind them all! Pitty you guys missed out on the playoffs tbf, all the best for the coming season, and we'll see you again one day

Another Lincoln fan here. Carlisle away is always a good trip out. Good to see Brunton Park getting some investment. Hopefully some improved facilities and revenue opportunities while retaining the wonderful character of the ground.

Im a Portsmouth fan & sad your in League 2 but now with extra revenue coming in more money bigger gates and promotion, i always follow Carlisle a proper Football Club and wish you all the best in the future 😊

Carlisle fan here. Good video. Very exciting times for us and for the future. The West Stand will be redeveloped and the changing rooms and rooms below the seats are getting a makeover now too. It makes sense to do the East Stand first as, once complete, it will bring in lots of money through the restaurants and sky boxes. The west side already has about 10 bars, and boxes, all of which are rammed on matchday. Looking good. New owners are lovely people too.

Great news for you guys, hope it goes well for you. Our ground was once described as Chernobyl by a Bolton fan. The Mem definitely needs a refresh but as I pointed out to the Snowflake Bolton fan we don’t just go bust and then fail to make payments to outside parties, allegedly, just like they did and BCFC 1982 have done and then plead poverty! All the best for the development and on the pitch. I hope that some originality will remain as there are too many soulless, off the shelf stadiums in the modern game. Looking out for the floodlights has been a traditional part of my away match trips over 40 odd years as a Wolves fan.

Excellent feature covering CUFC new ownership. I live out of area so have not viewed any local media coverage if there has been any? If they can put a false roof in the Warwick to get the sound projected it is bound to assist the atmosphere in the ground. Great to see the club on the up. My first game was on the cinders at waterworks end of the scratching shed, which also made as much noise as the Warwick. It was a home 4-0 defeat to Norwich in the old 1st division. Next game saw arrival of Bob Stokoe as manager and suddenly we improved until our return from the top flight. Keep the faith and keep reporting. Thanks.

Oxford United are still waiting for their fourth stand to be built, its been well over 20 years but I doubt it will ever get built.

I am a Carlisle fan. Our new owners are serious and highly credible people. We are very lucky. The East Stand is a priority. It’s got potential and is required to maximise revenue. Honestly the Piatak family have an eye for detail and an aspiration for quality. The club is being put on a setting for success.

Hope it works out. I can remember Carlisle in the First Division and have never understood why they haven't become (or stayed) as at least a second tier club as Cumbria is pretty much theirs to take -Workington are long dead as a league side, glad to see Barrow back as I always felt their de election in 1972 was unfair-but Carlisle is the main side up there. Seeing as Norwich and Ipswich rose from the lower leagues to establish themselves in East Anglia,amazed-as I say-Carlisle haven't done the same in their area. Mind you, Michael Knighton probably explains a lot!

The Warwick road end should of been the first priority. Yes, it's unic, but there is no doubt that it could do modernization of some shape or form.. The main stand is a difficult one, some safe modern standing at the front would be nice. realistically for us the best the club can realistically achieve is the bottom half of The Championship, something we have achieved in the past there is definitely a glass ceiling unless the new consortium has unlimited funds. but before the consortium came in, the club had gone stagnant to a great extent in my personal view. I used to come down from Scotland to watch us play at Braunton Park but then the pandemic happened & rail strikes, so it's been impossible to get down & plan ahead because of these bloody rail strikes so it's been impossible to get down without a marathon road journey round trip from Scotland to Carlise ,& back. But hopefully, eventually the rail strikes will come to a permanent stop & we can get back down to Carlisle for a few games..

Now they should demolish the West Stand, realign the pitch with the East Stand and build a new West Stand on that new pitch alignment.

Would make sense realistically, but from a sentimental point of view, the west stand is very unique and would be a sad loss for not just Carlisle United but for football in general.

@@TwoerTalks Sorry mate, but I've stood on that terrace and attended a function there. It's long overdue demolition. There really is nothing of architectural value about it worth preserving. Football fans in the 21st century deserve 21st facilities for their money. Or would you still like to live in a 2 up 2 down terrace with outside toilet and open coal fire for heating and work down t'pitt all the hours that God sends for a pittance?

@@TwoerTalks Another thought, as you are so attached to the west stand. How about clear and level the north stand, realign the pitch with the east stand and build a new covered north stand? With today's construction methods that could easily be done quickly and cheaply. The north stand area could levelled and cleared during the season, leaving the pitch alignment and new stand to be constructed between seasons.

I’m not really attached. I’m not even a CUFC supporter, just a lover of football grounds, both old and new. I get it may be dilapidated in places, but it has a charm.

As a Cheltenham Town season ticket holder, I must confess to being a little envious of the money invested by Carlisle's new owners! But good luck to you 👍 Carlisle is a proud old stalwart (mostly) of the lower leagues with a fantastic, quirky ground. I wish you well and live in hope that, one day, maybe the Robins will have similar good fortune 🤞😀

Why aren’t they developing the empty end first? And why is there one little block of white seats on it?? It’s always puzzled me.

The empty end is barely used. Except if we have large crowds or the away fans bring a huge support. The redevelopment to the east stand includes corporate boxes so it brings more money into the club.

@@scottwalker4619 Interesting. So it is used occasionally? I stood there in the 1980s to see Reading. Am I right in thinking the slight misalignment of the east stand was due to a plan to move the whole ground along a bit when Michael Knighton was there? Do Carlisle fans remember him well? Or not so well?

⁠⁠@@Nobby1961x Yeah it is used occasionally. Usually when bigger clubs come and bring more than they can fit into the seated area. You’re correct about the alignment. The plan was to pull the rest of the stadium back to align with the east stand. Knighton had big plans for the club and he is well remembered but not tor good reasons. He’s hated by the majority of Carlisle fans for financially ruining the club. I was only a kid at the time but I remember all the “Knighton Out” car stickers and stuff. Think he also got banned from owning a football club after that as well

Agreed, where if you look forwards, rather than to the left, you are looking at a terrace behind the goal.

yes when the new east stand was built the intention was to move the pitch and develope both ends of the ground, but this has never happened and so the stand isn't centred to the pitch,
