Beating Nadal and Djokovic, the best clay player ever and the second best clay player of this era, back to back, that's crazy. Still wouldn't rank it so high, old big 2 guys were warming up still, steadily increasing their level towards the French open, never reaching their 2021 level despite Nadal winning RG.

The Djokovic match was in my top 3 matches from last year. Against any other player, Carlitos would've won that match comfortably and dare I say it, so would Djokovic. The Nadal match was emotional and a roller-coaster, and the quality wasn't close to the semifinal. In fact, with the more mature Carlitos we're seeing right now, those big drops are no longer as big an issue as in his earlier years.

@@malekat8539 Tha't right, but most players peak around mid 20's. Alcaraz is working hard, his serve can still get better, but otherwise he's a complete player already. He is also getting better at tactics and effectivity, so I think he will dominate most tournaments in the next few years. federer exited in Wimbledon 2019 Final ( last slam win in January 2018), last year it was more like a party, federer was no rival for the best ones in the last 3 or 4 years, the real transition is happening from Nadal who has won 2 slams last year to Alcaraz who is becoming more and more dominant - as they are most alike, plus they already have played against each other
@RR_theproahole

@@mike_thiel Alcaraz is closest to Federer among the big 3, his game is attacking and he doesn't let the opponents breath for a second when he's in form just like Federer, except for that, some things like that sliding 2 handed backhand is similar to Djokovic, but I see no similarity to Nadal's game in his

@@mike_thiel Just that Roger will always be missed. He graced this sport with God given talent and abilities so ahead of the rest. Carlos has already found a niche unique to him. I think it is a wonderful thing. Carlos is also "special". His game really is more like Roger's with some hints of Rafael. Either way this guy is really something.
@mike_thiel
@mike_thiel Жыл бұрын
@@pawshands9706 I understand your view on that, and I think many people would completely agree with you :) personally,, I have more bond with Rafa, as practically from 2005 until 2022 ( and still not done ) was winning trophies, Federer on the other hand to me is "2003-2010" years, he might v won sth in 2012 or 2017, but a huge void I will notice once Rafa would retire. The "Best fruits" of Rafa's legacy apart from trophies is the magnificence of players who try to imitate him in this way or another, this is the best example of how great an impact he leaves ( sorry I just only see Dimitrov imitating Federer and no one else ) - whether it's Alcaraz, Iga Swiatek or Rune. But I still believe Rafa can give one more push in that year or another!
