Alcaraz really is my coping mechanism for Thiem’s decline. He’s the closest thing out there to Thiem. Sure, he doesn’t have that beautiful, ferocious one-handed backhand, but his net game, forehand, slice, and all-court tennis is so entertaining to watch.

I would say Alcaraz forehand is better because he mixes it up between really flat and a lot of spin, whereas De Potro mainly hit flat. As well as the fact that Alcaraz has probably the best forehand drop shot ever and his disguise is great and has a better forehand slice

The point is...he can hit in tons of ways, with or without spin, suddenly fire and the speed is always impressive. The frightening thing is that he is still improving, together with his serve, backhand, and strategies. We talk about his forehand w/ those really big forehand players; his talent with Nadal - how many slams/titles he had at the age of 19, age of 20; how fast he can get his first grass title/Wimbledon champion etc. This itself makes sense enough. He is only 20 (2 months) and everyone compares him with every single best of all.

@@Btw_visit_____todacarne-com Juan Carlos is a former no 1 and slam winner, so he definitely knows what he is talking about and this year definitely showed that (spot serving improvement, backhand returns, footwork on grass). Just incredible improvements already. But I do think 60% of his potential is not accurate. It's more like 70% unless he massively improves his serving placement. He can serve bombs and once he holds serves easily by serving big and accurately, he will absolutely sweep everyone aside. His forehand has scope for improvement indoors when the ball bounce is low (also at night in the AO) in slower conditions with less spin and he will need to adjust his swing but his arsenal is so varied he will find solutions.

If its power I think the best is still Fernando Gonzalez, I havent seen anyone who coyld hit the ball with such speed and raw power. If its effectiveness, there are too many good players to pick one. I don’t think Alcaraz, or any other player for that matter, would be able to achieve 1/10 of what Nadal achieved with his forehand. Just think on how he made Babolat fly and sell millions of rackets. All those buyers wanted/want to emulate Rafa’s forehand. And that includes Alcaraz. Facts.
@willybeama1

I don’t know, his backhand ain’t shabby either. Honestly, I haven’t identified his weakness yet. Some player will come along eventually and expose it. Happens to every single top player eventually. Djokovic can be over powered, Nadal can be out run, Roger’s backhand, Serena’s temper. Every great has an Achilles heel somewhere; just have to find it.

He just has the potential to take over/do an insane highlight or just play extraordinary tennis that will leave you amazed and wishing you could do the same. its like patrick mahomes for NFL or Messi for football. If you really think Tsitsipas has a better FH than Tsonga and Berdych, we are watching a different sport. Even Verdasco is too high in your list, his FH could be amazing one day but then in some matches he'd shank it every 3 shots.
@Saskobest
@Saskobest 11 ай бұрын
@@rm1507 agreed with Verdasco, just used their peak form and same goes for Tsonga who had many bad days and his forehand kinda lacked spin and wasnt potent on clay. Berdych might be better than Tsitsipas but he was much slower and worse on passing shot forehands and short crosscourt battles
@rm1507
@rm1507 11 ай бұрын
@@Saskobest Tsonga's FH was remarkable on clay, it was such an heavy shot. He had slightly worse results on this surface because his serve wasn't as effective on it. His inconsistency is not comparable to Verdasco, you're comparing a great player to a good player. At times Berdych was able to out-forehand even Federer in the FH CC battles, you will never see Tsitsipas manage to do that against Alcaraz.
