What do you think about Carlos Correa?

I love his reply. He doesn’t blame the fans at all. He’s in a slump and he knows it. He says he boos himself as well. How many teams pay big bucks for a player only to have them go through a slump. Booing isn’t going to make them get better any sooner. If I boo anyone, it’s not going to be a player on my team.

As a Twins fan you are correct. He had the chance to resign with us and opted not to. Then he came crawling back when he had no better option and still took a huge paycheck. Now he is probably playing as our 7th best offensive player. I respect his response though and truly hope he picks it up.

Their lead in the Central has nothing to do with their offense. They've got some really good pitching. I think Twins' fans are booing because he took up a big chunk of the budget and they're wasting a lot of really good starts.

as a minnesota sports fan i can tell you a lot of us are on edge rn due to our teams continuously failing us. i think it was just fans being fed up with poor performances by our stars which we have seen in all major sports here this year.

I have a friend who is a Twins fan (born and raised in Minnesota) He says it has nothing to do with the off-season for him because he thinks players should have the right to talk and move to whatever team he wants to play for. He's frustrated at the fact that Twins paid him $200mil/6 years and took a good portion of the budget; however, he's not producing anywhere near what my friend had hoped from Correa.

I'm a fan of both the Astros and Twins, so I've been able to watch Correa his entire career. He always seems goes through long slumps, so I'm not that concerned. Cause sooner or later he'll get hot and all those boos will disappear. I'm not the type of guy to boo my teams, but I get it I just have to remember it could be worse... at least they aren't paying Javy Baez.

Yea I pitched from little league to highschool and at age 13 I played travel baseball for coaches that played pro or college. But it sounds like to me that pitchers have made adjustments against him and before that pitcher faces Correa there is already a scouting report on him. Samething for hitters there will always be a scouting report on pitchers but until Correa can make adjustments well then pitchers will continue to expose his weaknesses

Carlos Correa did Twins’s management a big favor by opting out of his first contract only to ensnare themselves by resigning him to a new contract. They deserve his putrid batting average!

The slump makes me glad he didnt sign with the giants, but his response makes me remember why i wanted him on the team in the first place

I get why Minnesota fans are all over Correa. He went out shopping for a new team and they feel slighted. If he isn’t performing up to expectations he is going to hear about it. Once he starts hitting again they will ease up on him. Nothing wrong with fans venting.

As an Astros fan, the only thing I don't like about Carlos Correa is how he kept wanting a crap ton of money and literally left the Twins because of that, I still like him as a player and a person though and am glad he showed humility.

I was at that game on Tuesday and I think it’s just the fans that are still salty that he tried leaving and couldn’t land anywhere.

As a Twins fan myself I personally wouldn't boo Correa. Yes, I am disappointed in his performance thus far into the season as many other fans are as well. However, having slumps is just a part of baseball. He is a good enough player (the money further proves this) to eventually come out of the slump and go back to being himself if not better. It's still "early" in the season in my opinion and by his answer to the interviewer, he obviously knows that he needs to work on his game. We will just have to see what happens in the long run. As a Mets fan I’m so glad he did not stay with the team. Injuries still might be an issue for him. Him struggling like this, well we already have too many of those guys on the Mets.

Twins fans have high expectations this year, and Correa was signed as the defacto leader of the team (along with buxton). A lot of guys have been struggling so far this season, and when the leader is struggling in situations he was paid to shine in, it kinda makes us upset. Its hard to anger a minnesota fan in general, but every minnesota professional team has under preformed since the 1991 twins.

Maybe some fans feel like jilted lovers but I think him getting a massive contract is the greater problem. Most Minnesota fans know they arent going to see payrolls like the Mets, Dodgers, Yankees or Phillies or even the next tier down, Braves, Angels or Cubs. Taking up such a large portion of the payroll on a team that is ran like a middle market club is going to limit the teams ability to improve other holes so you really need Correa to be worth what he is being paid.

It's insane the kind of money he got, what value can a player even have when he can easily be injured? He is playing poorly as expected.

I can’t speak for all Twins fans, but it’s the quality of his at bats that is frustrating. If you only throw him fastballs up and in plus sliders down and away out of the zone he will swing and miss badly at most of them. When he does hit the ball it’ll be an infield fly half the time. No adjustments being made thus far.

I look at Correas stats and then scratch my head not understanding how he earned top tier money.... Like, I don't get it.

I dont have a problem being 2nd choice if hes willing to give us his all, now that he's committed to MN. However hes held to a higher standard because of it and for 30 million a year he really isn't allowed to have slumps that last longer than a week in my opinion at least.

Carlos is a stand-up guy. I don't always agree with him but I do respect him. If his play improves, he'll be a team leader. What may be upsetting Twins fans is that they don't have money to risk on free agents like the Mets. When they sign one, he needs to be good. They're worried he won't be good.
