Great job Carlos! One addition I'd suggest is to do an ABB when the ISO is changed. Keep up the great work! :)

I wish there was an example of a camera that wasn't ABB and a clip after it was ABB to see the significance. Great video though.

Thanks Nice info. Yes always turn the camera off when changing lenses. The electric charge can attract particles. And always be careful of wind, breezes and air conditioner vents when changing... Even people walking by, coughing, breathing etc can send torrents of dust on the sensor. I had a few days ruined by simple things one takes for granted...

Thanks, Canon say it does not matter how many times you do it ie you can do it 1 or 10 times in a row. It apparently can help with a stuck pixel also, as it tells the cameras to remap all the pixels.

I've been doing it with the lens cap because I'm usually dragging my camera around in its to go mode without the body caps and other stuff so that I'm ready to shoot. I wonder how much of a difference this makes, because I AM getting noise at low iso levels. I'll have to try this out.

In your early days with the C200 you talked about having poor results with C-log2. Was this not done and contributed to that problem? What ever become of the issues you were having when outputting C-log2 through the Canon RAW development software? Maybe a follow up video about it.......
@carlosq00

The Canon RAW development software has not seen any updates from Canon...and the processing issues with CLog 2 from the C200 RAW Light are still there for me.

This subject is still weird to me. So does this mean every camera that doesn't have ABB basically always slightly varies in terms of noise levels depending on its temperature? Lets say I'm using an A6300 that's known to quickly overheat. Does that mean my noise levels could suffer because of that as well?? Anyway really interesting video!
@carlosq00
@carlosq00 6 жыл бұрын
Image processing from stills cameras are not the same as digital cinema. The limited dynamic range allows for less to process and why blacks tend to get crushed or highlights have virtually no roll off. So ISO is the main source or cause on how that video image gets processed

@carlosq00
@carlosq00 2 жыл бұрын
the only concern you have to worry about is ensuring that you are using the Canon Body Cap and not a third party cap so that you seal off any potential light from coming even close to the sensor. Holding it or not doesn't matter.

Ive heard that you have to ABB also when you change your ISO
@carlosq00
@carlosq00 3 жыл бұрын
that is a fact and true...every time you make a change to exposure not on the lens, ABB helps optimize the dynamic range and quality.

I’m confused, when you turn the camera off and on how does the camera know what the outside environment was or is going to be ?
@carlosq00
@carlosq00 3 жыл бұрын
The ABB process is something you "should" do every time the temperature changes in the shooting environment or you change your ISO.

Hi, a question; Let’s say I changed my environment from indoor to outdoor. I turned on the camera. Should I do black balance before adjusting white balance or after?
@carlosq00
@carlosq00 5 жыл бұрын
White Balance and Auto Black Balance don't affect each other. To keep things straight in my head, I personally always start with Black Balance.

Carlos! Bit of a late question, but do you have to do this if you're 30mins in - shooting on ISO 800, and then you decide to shoot at ISO 1600?
@carlosq00
@carlosq00 5 жыл бұрын
Canon's documentation recommends a black balance any time the ISO changes or there is a temperature shift...So for me on commercial work, I just do it.

Let's say I'm shooting at iso 1.6k, and I've lowered my iso a little. Should I take out the lens and adjust abb? Run and gun scenes wedding, fast paced. What's your recommendation? Cause I don't want to miss the moments.
@carlosq00
@carlosq00 2 жыл бұрын
in a run and gun scenario, I would black balance for what I thought the majority of my shots would be and run with a single calibration.

I will turn the camera off to change the lens if the lens has electronic connections to the body, I don't turn the camera off if it's a fully manual cine lens.
@carlosq00
@carlosq00 6 жыл бұрын
I can't agree with you because the camera itself has electronics, which could introduce dust into the sensor, which is exposed when you remove the lens. Unlike DSLR cameras that have a mirror to protect it.
@ziyangzhang5219
@ziyangzhang5219 6 жыл бұрын
I think the danger of taking the lens off without turn off the camera is mainly you have a small chance to shortcut the electronic connection between the lens and body, I am not worried about dust too much because they will get into the body doesn't matter the camera is on or off, just need to clean the sensor sometime.

Question! When do you perform your WHITE BALANCE then? You did your BLACK BALANCE.
@carlosq00
@carlosq00 3 жыл бұрын
two very different things. But Black Balance does set the value for the black point the difference being it doesn't make sure black is black but rather that black is NOISE Free.
