What the F is up with the 22 thumbs down?!!! This guy is a living legend and was an inspiration for John Bonham! If his improvises, who cares! And, anybody who doesn't have some appreciation for Carmine Appice clearly does not know much about drumming or rock history.

He's all over the place because he just can't stop showing off. He's a brilliant drummer but this-at his level- lets him down. So before the venom comes my way I acknowledge his talent but think he's had much better days at the office. Peace.@@Strimbles

@@markdemell3717 of course we know that.. in this particular situation Carmine was blowing the parts and it wasn’t the band throwing him off. John Paul Jones, arguably the most underrated musician of all time was instrumental (excuse the pun) in creating the riff and therefore it’s original time signature. It isn’t a standard 4/4 “beat” although it *sounds* like it... This version is an orgy of egos and it shows how brilliant LZ were.

He didn't serve the song by dropping into the pocket and groove that is Black Dog. He was more about the one lick he kept doing and looking around seeing the reactions people had as he did it. Bonham would make eye contact because of a mutual feel moment. And yes, Carmine rushed it hard. I can see where as drummers get older and maybe insecure because they're question of relevance they may over do it but whatever. He's done his thing. pretty honarable just to be asked to do such an event. I saw him at a clinic at music land in Bel Air MD in like mid-late 80's, it was cool, but I was turned off when he ragged on Vinnie his brother who I feel has a much more original identifiable style. Fuck it, so many drummers are dicks and have little good to say about other drummers. I think one is born to be a true natural feel player that can move or make another person move to a beat or feel.

Robert Glen...Man, that wasn't a lesson in drumming "Carmine Style". That was a lesson in humility. It's too bad, and a sad situation, when a master mucisian/drummer of his stature, can't even get off his cellphone and share some knowledge and love, with his devoted fan, such as yourself. A paid for, dyed in the true-blue, comrade, at that. It's life in the F-U fast lane; which has become too common of a theme these days obviously you were offended and for good reason. It's not about the $150.00. He oughta be ashamed! Best that you didn't allow the incident to tarnish you. Forever keep your music and love alive. Thx for sharing

The band were like " What the fuck is he doing?" at the beginning with that shitter of a solo. Then he goes on to decimate the whole song, and the band has to constantly time shift. The problem with Carmine is, he listens to himself and is so consumed with how HE comes across that he forgets about the band. As far as he is concerned the band can take a hyke. He was so lucky to even be selected for Blue Murder.

After Bonzo died and the rumors swirled about that Carmine Appice might take his spot, the standard surface explanation for his not being given the chair was never a knock on Carmine but that the rest of the band were too great of friends with Bonzo to ever replace him. No doubt that is true, but I'd always also thought that Appice's PERSONALITY would not have fit in with the group. Now, watching this, I wonder if the lads also realized that Appice's (lack of ) MUSICALITY would not have fit, either.

I'm sure it's the position of the camera (mic) but it would be nice if you could hear something other than the bass

if this was Carmine in the 70's, (and maybe even the 80's) this probably would have been more enjoyable. still cool to see the older greats still rockin out.

My god, man, Carmine is clueless on how to play this song. Also, to the singer. Those vocals are hard as hell. No reason to kill yourself on the high vocal everytime it comes around.

This song is harder than staying married to your mother. The bass player is screwing the pooch by pushing harder than a Louisiana politician at a Pentecostal church.

I think the commentary here is a bit hyper-critical. This wasn’t that bad. Dude has chops. So it was a little loose in places? So what. That’s live rock n roll. Lighten up.

I got respect for his music career and all but that doesn't take away the fact that he just murder the song (and not in a good way).
