In this video, I'm sharing with you a week-long CARNIVAL of rides, entertainment, street food, refreshments and many more in observance of the Royal Ploughing Ceremony.
Officially known as วันพระราชพิธีพืชมงคลจรดพระนังคัลแรกนาขวัญ (Wan Phra Ratcha Phithi Phuetcha Monkhon Lae Charot Phra Nangkhan Raek Na Khwan). Also observed as Farmer's Day.
A Royal Ploughing Ceremony marking the auspicious beginning of the rice growing season in Thailand and a special and religious ceremony is celebrated at the Grand Palace in Sanam Luang, Bangkok. King Vajiralongkorn has presided over the ceremony. Rice grown on the Chitralada Royal Villa grounds, home of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej is sown in the ceremony, and afterward, onlookers swarm the field to gather the seed, which is believed to be auspicious.
The day is also observed as an official holiday in Thailand.
