CARNIVAL VALOR: DAY 4 - PROGRESO, MEXICO - FREE SHUTTLE, FREE BEACH, GUESS THE PRICE, LGBT MIXER

Welcome back to the Carnival Valor 2022 series as we continue with Demeatrie’s 40th Birthday cruise. Today Demeatrie and I decided that we were going to separate as she needed to get some work done and I wanted to get off the ship in Progreso, Mexico to explore and see Progreso for the first time. We start by grabbing some buffet breakfast and then I escort her to the Carnival Valor Library where she wanted to start her journey catching up with life back home. I head off the ship and tour the port area before getting on the shuttle bus to take into the city of Progreso. Once I made it in Progreso I tour the local shops that are spread everywhere. I then head to the free beach, don’t remember the beach name, but its really close to the pickup/drop-off area. After getting annoyed by the locals harassing and soliciting on the highest levels possible I head back to the ship, I got lost for a second, but I finish my shopping mostly in the port area and hop back on the Carnival Valor to meet back up with Demeatrie. We go grab some food and I hop in the shower because today in Progreso was extremely hot. We finish the evening with diner in the Main Dining Room, the head to the piano bar, and of course the LGBT Mixer and the night club.

Progresso sounds like Jamaica when it comes to the aggressiveness of the sales. Becky the head had me screamin! Dude said can I borrow her for 15 minutes 😂

I personally think that Progresso was far more aggressive than Jamaica at least compared to when we went to Jamaica. Progresso was bad lol. The Becky head was too much.

Firstly, THANK YOU!!! Secondly, dress was a recommendation to me by a stylist on Stitch Fix. It is pricey but I will say when you do it enough, purchase a couple of pieces here and there and find someone that gets your style, they are on it.

Should take a bus to Merida. No pushy vendors, great museums, architecture and Yucatecan food specialties.

Oh I’m sure you’re gonna have a good time. I’m not sure exactly when brunch was. I wanna say it was from maybe 9am till maybe 12p. I’m not sure exactly.

It'll make a big difference. Ima chocolate lover, but 1st time I tried the melting cake, there was a different type chocolate taste. So, next night, I asked for a small bowl of peanut butter. Mix together. Wow, it's not even the same cake and ice cream now. I pray 🙏 you'll enjoy. God Bless

This is way I’ll a solo traveler. 64 cruises under my belt. Heading to Africa and Asia next year with Norwegian. I like to be free from Negative and enjoy my cruises.

Hi Carolyn, Demeatrie here. I feel like your commentary about negativity may be pointed (Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong cause I won't be offended at all) so I'm here for context. I too, like to be free from negativity and this was my birthday cruise that I wasn't really expecting to be filmed the entire time. Not only was it an important birthday for me, but one right after losing my grandmother and my father in the last two years respectively so I am sorry if my expectations and what I wanted to do on said cruise was not to your liking.

It's in the port, kind of hidden but it's once you come out of the first liquor store to the right and kind of around the corner.

The bus was free… and you don’t need tickets. Just get on and enjoy the ride lol Just make sure you get back to make it back on the ship.

The ride from the ship to the city where they drop you off? It was about 5-10min. It may be shorter now, they had some construction going on when I was there.

If it’s a closed loop cruise, meaning you leave one US port and return to the same US port, then typically you can use your original birth certificate and government ID. But in some cases like Virgin Voyages, all sailors need a valid passport.

Oops! Just seeing this 🫣! Yea if it’s a closed loop then your original birth certificate (not a copy) and government ID (drivers license, state ID) is ok. Passport is always the preferred though, especially if you run into travel hiccups.
