Very Very good video. I've been playing the caro-kahn at the 1000 rating level without having done much research into the theory of the advanced. I've been playing c5 against it because its what Gotham Chess recommended, but I don't think I really understood it properly so I figured I'd look into the main line and see if I could find some basic ideas. Not only did I find a video with those basic ideas that I could learn in 10 minutes, but also 25 more additional minutes of ideas to prepare even better. After watching this video I've gotten significantly better at surviving in the opening with black, which for someone of my rating is something that is getting pretty important now that my tactics have improved and I've become somewhat competent. My only complaint from this video is that when explaining a given line you went off and small tangents explaining other lines for a second briefly which was a tad confusing. If you could really focus on one line at a time a bit more this would go from very very good video to perfect video.

What a good teaching style

This is just what I was looking for. The depth was amazing, yet easily understandable. Now for part 2. This video showed replies to whites best moves. Part 2 can give ideas on taking advantage of whites less than best moves. Just an idea of the direction to go. The 2D board can help, but the 3D view is really clear. The pauses after a move are important because often, following along, a viewer is seeing the move on screen, then looking at her board to make the move there, then looking back at the screen. So a slight pause is good.

I'm so scattered shot when it comes to chess openings, that I'm choosing this one and sticking to it to memorize and other Caro-Kann defense variations. In games, I know a little bit of the semi-slav and at least two variations. Now I will learn the Caro-Kann and surprise my opponents, since I'm a beginner and don't expect much folks to know it at that level.

Massively good this complete explanation about Caro-Kann> Advance Variation. I'm playing Black Pieces: 1.e4c6 2.d4d5 3.e5Bf5 4.Nf3e6 5.Bd3Bg4, The difference here is that looks like the clubbing game you mentioned, but I pin the Knight with bishop and contnue with your ideas of pawn to c5 and gain control over the centre of the board with bishop Bc5 and then Knight and Queen as you prepared the information. You respond to e6 with Qd6 and take the pawn with your king if he takes. The game goes on and is equal with engine lines but very messy and hard to figure out in the center.

Beautiful demonstration of an opening I have so far understood very little of. One thing though: Why is the seemingly natural move c3 to bolster White's centre not even mentioned? Also: is f4 instead of Nf3 possible? I've played that move a couple of times with reasonable success, but maybe just because my opponents didn't always know how to respond in the most forceful and efficient way. And yes, we players at club level tend to be very happy to exchange that annoying Bishop off asap! This said: I don't think I have ever responded to 1.e4 with c6, for my part relying on the French, with its often awkwardly placed light square Bishop. Thanks again for bringing such clarity to the subject!

I would agree, it us rare to see the breyer variation. Ad a caro kann player I seldom see it. However when facing bots, there is one chess bot that plays it allot.

I've asked other Creators to please help me in utilizing the PGN Files but that never happens. Perhaps other Masters at your level feel I should know or figure it out for myself but I've been unable to. I'm 65 and could sure use a pointer in utilizing PGN File Study. Is there a software for this you recommend or please, could you take just a moment to show me the ABC's of getting use from them. Once taken by the hand the 1st time, I'll be set! If white plays h4 its best black plays h5
