Carole performs "City Streets" and then chats with Dave, asking why he always sits taller than his guests, prompting Dave to switch seats.

After watching numerous clips of Carole King on Letterman over 10 year period they do seem to genuinely like each other. She’s a genius.

The important thing is, at least to me, that carole king finally was recognized by the rock and roll hall of fame and inducted into the rock hall as a performer. Congrats Ms king.

This song has a very Bruce Springsteen feel and groove to it but her voice delivery in this one eerily reminds me of Laura Branigan.

I like Fantasy, it reminds me a bit of What's Going On and Dark Side of The Moon. Road to Nowhere was a good single of hers from the 60's too.

The City Streets album itself is one of my faves, to be sure!

She really needs a box set covering HER ENTIRE SOLO CAREER, not compilations that have other artists singing her songs.

I think this could be part of a chair controversy collection Don...Grodin complained about this too. A quick request sir...do you have the quick clip (I lost my vhs copy) of a show done around '90 or maybe '91 where Dave wheeled out a brand new chair he was premiering that night? It happened right after the monologue...i remember vividly it was a fairly space age looking Herman Miller Equa chair to replace his long time Knoll chair (as seen in this clip)...he did the chair swap on camera and for the rest of the show used it....HOWEVER he quietly went back to the Knoll chair for the rest of the NBC years and through 2000 on CBS. I know this is probably an obscure couple of minutes on air but I'd love to see it as I have both model chairs.

Looks like it was in the beginning of Act 2 on April 30, 1992, when Dave wheeled out a new chair. (In Act 1, Dave was in the audience for Brush with Greatness.) Right now I'm up to May 1989, so it'll be a while.
