Lyrics:
But you're so far away
Doesn't anybody stay in one place anymore
It would be so fine to see your face at my door
Doesn't help to know you're so far away
Traveling around sure gets me down and lonely
Nothing else to do but close my mind
I sure hope the road don't come to own me
There's so many dreams I've yet to find

Yes, music now isn't even music. At least, popular music isn't. There is still good music out there, but it's not the popular stuff. I've listened to rare bands, local bands, etc., stuff that isn't well-know, and there is still some wonderful and amazing music being made. But the popular 'music'. Blech. Not even music. Just supposedly good-looking people dressed up is silly sparkly costumes, lip synching to garbage. You don't have to be talented, or be able to sing, or anything - all you have to do is look good. And even that's questionable, since a huge part of is is plastic surgery.

I have such a huge ultra-crush on Carole King. The most authentic & talented songwriter/composer in the history of pop music. Her genius is in what's NOT there. Her ability to get deep inside of your heart with only voice & piano (with a bit of subtle guitar & bass background) is unparalleled. The EPITOME of the 'Natural Woman' she wrote about in one of her most enduring songs. 100% gorgeous. 💖

I am here on Mother's day 2022 because my mother loved James Taylor and this song is exactly how I feel about missing her. She died in 1997 and every year she gets further and further away and there's nothing I wouldn't do to have her see the grandchildren she never met, to tell her how much I think about her every day. This song drives me to tears every time I hear it because it's so genuine, so pure, it's everything I feel today and every mother's day when I am reminded of her loss.

Taylor Swift...but not her singles, many of them are 😵‍💫 and are skips for me. Do a deep dive of any of her albums and there are so many hidden gems that sadly do not grace the ears of many listeners. Try Cowboy Like Me, Treacherous, Carolina, The Best Day, Seven, and a gazillion more. Once again, her singles are mostly skips except for a handful. Also, many of her songs are not about boyfriends or exes. 😅 And oh, even Carole King only has awesome things to say about her. Taylor gave the speech when Carole was inducted into the rock n roll hall of fame. Another suggestion, John Mayer. Enjoy!
