Quick way to make a lot of cheap chum to bait an area and uses simple ingredients from any supermarket, this has always worked for me on West Point Lake. I usually chum 3 spots as soon as I launch the boat, after I chum the 3rd spot I return to the 1st spot to fish. If nothings there I head to the 2nd spot and so on. I haven't tried keeping this bait for an extended amount of time I usually us it up over the weekend or freeze it for chum later. It will spoil so keep it cool if you plan on longer trips. I use the bait on a hair rig with PVA string or bags. Catfish love it also.
When I say "wet bread" I actually mean moist bread not dried bread.
If you would like to see some pictures of the fish I caught that weekend let me know, I can send some to you. 9 oz White Bread
3 oz Yellow Corn minced/chopped
4 oz Corn Flour
2 tsp White Sugar
2 tsp Corn Oil
2 large eggs

If you want a very buoyant boilie or pop up only use the whites because the yolk has lots of fat which is heavy which makes the boilie sink

Tried this bait for couple weeks with no luck. So i added 3tsps of vanilla extract i also did 3 tsps of sugar and corn oil instead of 2. And it worked amazingly. I landed a 22 pound, and 12 pound carp, and also a 10 pound channel cat today. Had a monster carp hit and just ran like a city bus eventually braking my line had to be 40+. Great bait once again thanks for sharing this my new favorite boilie

They sink... If you want them to float rap a couple in a wet paper towel and try to microwave them, I'm not sure how long to microwave them or if it will even work, I've never tried it. Test it out, try out 10 seconds on 70% power and increase each test by 10 seconds until the boilie floats, if it doesn’t work you’ll know it, it will cook the boilie and burn it, Not Good. They also make a boilie powder that you can put in the mix to make it float, not sure where to buy it.

I'll throw a half quart bag were my hook bait will be when I first get to my fishing spot, I also use PVA mesh on my hook bait with 4 additional boilies. I'll also chum another spot somewhere else on the lake in case I have no luck in my first spot I'll move around until I find them. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply, I put the oil in to make it easy to roll (best rolling dough I’ve ever made) and to breakdown in the bread for a (cheap $1 pound) hint of corn flavor. I fish large lakes and the more scent the better, fish can taste scents in the water and come to you. This is good for example if your fishing from the bank, you can position yourself so the current goes into an area you can’t cast to that you believe fish are at, this will pull the fish to you once they catch the scent.

If your only fishing for a day throw the chum in a 10' radius in your spot and put your hook bait in the middle of the chum (50 boilies or so) and be sure to let the bait sit, the hand smashed bread around the hook or boilie will last for hours on the hook. You might try adding a little vanilla extract in a baggie with the initial boilies you chum to add the scent to the water faster but I wouldn’t over due it. The longer the bait sits the better it gets.

I bought the caulking gun at Home Depot to caulk my RV (Ryobi 18-Volt ONE+ Caulk Gun). I already had a (Gardner Standard Sausage Gun) so I decided to modify the two together. The Gardner sausage tube fits the Ryobi Gun perfect. I had to modify the plunger on the Ryobi which didn't fit into the tube with the correct diameter. I took off the plunger tip from the Gardner Gun and put it on the Ryobi plunger rod, added a washer (spacer) and a different bolt to hold the plunger on the rod.

I fish it on a hair rig, it will stay on all day no problem unless you have crawfish or minnows. The two eggs keep it together. I use them in PVA bags and particle mix. I use a PVA friendly corn flavor liquid or dip on the hook bait and in my PVA bags only. Since the boilies don’t have an over whelming scent when they will find your hook bait faster when you use the corm flavor only on you hook bait. I might put some more of my recipes on line later; I got a lot of work going on now. Good luck.
@Carperama

Your flavored corn (hot cinnamon/xxx strawberry) should be fine in the mix, just drain the corn to get rid of most of the liquid and save it. When kneading the dough if it seems to wet just add a little corn flour, if the dough gets to dry add a little of the drained liquid from the corn. You can dip your bait in the drained corn liquid before you cast, this will give a nice scent in the water around you bait.

I used regular plain white bread from the store. (Corn Bread Boilie) just refers to the use of corn and bread. I think any bread the carp like would work with this recipe, you might just have to add more eggs or flour. Corn bread in the USA is more gritty (corn mill), heavier than white bread and usually crumbles when you try to roll it in a ball and it has a lot of air pockets.

I believe red baits are better seen as red in shallow water and it might depend on the water clarity. I would recommend making some in all red and making another batch in two colors red and white use the red bait on the left side of your fishing spot and the two color bait on the right side and see how you do. You really have to test your baits at your fishing spots because the water clarity and fish are different in every lake or region.

I’ve eaten worst; I’m a catfisherman that loves eating Cheesy Doritos on my fishing trips, even while fishing with night crawlers, and little worm dirt never hurt anyone. Sure you can snack on them as long as their fresh and kept in a cooler over the weekend. It’s basically still bread with eggs and no preservatives so they will spoil after a while.

The longest that I ever kept a line in the water was for 2 hours, I had a line in 1' of water near the bank just in case a catfish was in the hole under the bank, and the boilie was still good. I would say they would last for several hours as long as no critter is peeking at it and your not in a river with swift current.

I mostly fish West Point Lake in Georgia, never seen a fish larger than 20lb pulled out, most fish average form 3 - 10lbs (common carp). I use them as chum and on my hair rig. I might put some other recipes on line later, to busy for now. Later.

Never tried to make it harder, it’s a soft bait recipe. The bread is keeping it soft, the longer you let them room dry the more they cracks due to the bread, less bread the better. Try adding another egg and more corn flour. After boiling them let them room dry until it hardens to your desire. Maybe try just the egg whites. If this doesn’t work leave the bread out of the recipe and go back to a basic boilie recipe with flour and eggs and you can still use the chopped corn.

In closing, I believe red can be a great bait as long as it has a nice smell and a nice taste, the fish will find it, if they want to eat it is the bigger question and only testing your waters will answer that question. I always have at least two different colors and flavors of bait to try.
@Carperama

If bread or corn works in your pay lake I would think this would work, make a small batch and try it out. You might try tipping the boilie or bread on your hook with a piece of corn or go to a hobby shop and find a yellow piece of foam that would float and cut it to look like a piece of corn. Just lifting the bait off the bottom a little might give you something the fish in the lake never seen before. Never hurts to try something different, just don’t try it more then a couple of hours.

Look up videos on KZfaq how to tie a Hair Rig, this is the method using a boilie for a hook bait. If you don't want to use a Hair Rig you can smash the center of a piece of white bread around the shaft of the hook and be sure that the tip of the hook is showing. You can use the boilies still to chum and make the smashed bread on the hook shaft look round.

We have the Common Carp here is Georgia. Pound per pound they fight harder then other species here, I'm a sport fisherman so I would be a fool if I didn't enjoy this fish. I fish for crappie, bass or bream for my dinner table, I only kill what I eat. I can't talk for others but I practice catch and release on Common Carp. Some people eat them and some people bow hunt for them. The Asian carp is really bad in some rivers in the USA and they are usually killed.

Catfish love boilies but you want a meaty or fishy based boilie. Most carp like boilies such as Mirror, common, grass, leather etc. Although I tend to use good protein and quality items in my boilie mixes. Carp here eat what does them good, if they do not get as much out of a bait as they use up in having to find and eat it, they wont eat it. They want at minimum as much but most times more out of a bait than they have to use to find and eat it.

The Ryobi (18-Volt ONE+ Caulk Gun), the battery & charger (Ryobi 18-Volt ONE+ Lithium-Ion Battery) sold separately and the Gardner kit (Gardner Standard Sausage Gun) cost around $130 +/-. The Lithium-Ion batteries last twice as long as the Nickel-Cadmium Batteries, they cost more but are worth it if you’re making a lot of bait and only have 1 battery or you can buy 2 Nickel. My old Nickel batteries lasted about 4 years before I had to replace them, not sure about the life of the Lithium’s.

I have some corn that's been soaking in some hot cinnamon/xxx strawberry flavoring for about a week now. Would there be too much liquid in them to use as the corn ingredient in the recipe? They will also turn the bollies blood red, would this be a disadvantage since the color red supposedly disappears within a few feet of water?

I never tried another oil with this boilie since corn oil is cheep and easy to get near my home. Try to stay with a seed or nut oil or buy carp flavor oils on line. I add the oil to make the dough roll easier and it adds scent to the water and the PVA bags, you might be able to leave the oil out, never tried through. I use fish oil in some of my other boilies. You can buy some OMEGA-3 pills from the store or dollar store and cut them with scissors and squeeze the oil out of the pills.

Hard question, I just use my corn boilies because its really cheep ($1.50lb) to make vs buying boilies on line ($7lb up) plus I like to make them. I also fish in lakes that people rarely ever fish for carp so the carp aren't that hard to catch. I would do some research on local carp fishing in you area and look at what the carp like to eat during different seasons and that would help with the flavor decision, here in Georgia corn and bread always work. If no one else is really fishing for carp in your lakes keep it simple, here its harder to find them that's why I like to chum different areas so I don't have to stay in 1 spot all day with no bite. The rig: I fish a lake bottom with no weeds so I use large PVA mesh with my boilies and sinking catfish pellets I get from the local feed store. I use a regular hair rig sometimes with a plastic corn tipped on top.

This is ideal for carp. That's what a "boilie" was originally designed for bud. Then, people realized with a little tweaking, that it made a fantastic catfish bait as well. Take for instance the "plum boilie" from dynamite baits..GREAT channel snack man.

The large Rolaball will run from $50-$60 or you buy a much smaller size that rolls the same size boilies but I think only 10 at a time for around $25, I would recommend the larger table if you plan on doing a lot.

No, they are softer, no preservative, no protein. Just a cheap alternative chum and good boilie if no small fish and crawfish are present which might pick at the boilie. The lakes I fish I've had no problem with the boilie on my hook for over 3 hours. I can buy all the ingredient from my local supermarket and it cost around $1.50 lb to make.

I figured it once here in Georgia (USA) it's about $1.50 lb once you have all the ingredients, which is really cheep here. Is £12 expensive? I'm not familiar with that currency. Thanks.
