Some people around me don't understand why I love listening to this kind of songs, most especially Karen carpenter songs. They said you're in a modern day now and your choice of music is from 70's and 80's. They can't relate to the feeling I have everytime I listen to these kind of misic. I just told them me too I can't find myself being entertained with modern day songs you like, each of us have our own uniqueness whatever it is. Let's just respect each other whatever likes we have.

Today’s music can’t be compared to previous generations. And no one can compare to Karen Carpenter
@ilovesuisse1 Жыл бұрын
Maybe these people don’t understand what real music is. Karen’s voice was and always will be. She didn’t need to run around on stage half-naked, she had REAL talent, she had a natural God given beautiful voice. She could have sung the phone book and it would have been special. A lot of music today is just rubbish.

Pure emotion is what Karen Carpenter always gave. Her voice was & still is incomparable. I’ve only ever heard one person who nearly came close to imitating Karen’s voice. That’s was Sandi Patti performing her “Jesus Loves Me” medley from 1983/84.

This song drips with such a lonely, heart-wrenching nostalgia. I don't know why it affects me the way it does because I'm far from being anything like the man in the song. No doubt part of the reason it pulls on my heart strings is because of the sadness I feel about Karen's untimely death.😪 Also, it carries me away and places me in an era in my life that seems so very distant. Godspeed Karen Carpenter❣️

I think k that each one of us is like the man in the song to some extent , we all closed our hearts at times and chose to play it safe , with the price involved. it's a universal theme. more so for us men .we all know the feeling :)

What a pure, soulful and warm performance by such a fragile young lady. You cannot be untouched when you hear her. Listen with headphones or earbuds to pick up the subtlety of the instrumentals in harmony with Karen. I particularly love the oboe throughout, and of course we can hear our beloved Tony on guitar. I'm playing solitaire too, Karen. RIP

The most beautiful, angelic voice, as a musician I can relate to perfect tones & hers are second to none, spot on, could not be better & her brother Richard's background voice only adds another dimension....Karen should easily qualify for Hall of Fame....she left us much too early & why wasn't someone able to help with her physical situation? @nirmalsuki Жыл бұрын
True. Comparing them is an exercise in futility. Neil Sedaka is a genius songwriter and musician and an exceptional singer, but Karen's just out of this world. This cover goes on to show how she can really capture and express the precise emotion required for a song. Neil and Karen should have done a duet.

i agree completely with all the other comments praising karen's voice and richard's arranging. trust me, NO ONE was a bigger carpenters' fan back-in-the-day, and hopefully i'm still on the short list. i would like to contribute one additional kudos, if i may to the recording studio/engineer(s). the beginning, and another section later, with karen singing alone; the quality of the reproduction is impeccable. every little nuance of karen's vocals is 100% clear as a bell. i'm sure they were using the state-of-the-art technology of the day, but still. fantastic job. thank you.

This song used to make me unbearably sad even though I was too young to understand the grownup kind of pain it described when it came out in the 70s. I took the line about a little home going up in smoke literally and thought it was about someone's house burning down! Now, I listen and realize it is a very sad story of a different kind, but it has a hint of hope in that he is just pretending he will never love again.
