Nice work, I've done stairs for over 30 years and in most cases the stringers are not square and requires a few trips to the chop saw to get a perfect fit. Also on the bottom run of Stairs I would have put a return on the left side .It gives it a better look. Remember to watch for the riser change when putting treads on top of old ones .

Nice job! It's amazing how many framers don't know now to properly frame stairs. I trimmed a set once that was so badly done that I had to add 2 1/4 inch blocks to the top step of the stringers and then add blocks reduced by 1/4 inch increments for each step down!

My wife bought me a tool this past Christmas. I looked at it and wondered why the hell she bought this weird looking tool. I literally just watched you use this same tool while building these stairs. So now I know it actually has a purpose. These videos are addicting.

Nicely done! The painted mdf board really set it off! I am no where near your level of carpentry, but when I was putting up crown molding and pulled out the angle gauge/finder, everyone asked me what it was! :) You should do a video on that tool, I think it would help a TON of people out there, considering there hasn't been a house built, ever, with 90 degree angles....ever :) Keep the great videos coming!
@TheHandyman1
@TheHandyman1 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the complements. You are for sure right about no 90 degree angles ever. This was a 1940s house and i'm sure when they were putting in the stairs to the basement they weren't to concerned about angles or keeping things uniform. Now days most new homes have stairs made in a factory.

Wish I would have watched this before doing my stairs... The 2 x 6's in between the runners of the steps is a great idea... more surface area for the adhesive. I have one step about a year later that has popped loose and wiggles, and now I am trying to figure a way to fix it without damaging all the finish work on the tread. Nice video!

Step 1 I've enlisted the help from my son to help pull up the carpet. We are not handy at all but that's all I want for Christmas. And, do it while my husband's at work. Maybe in another 14 years my stairs will look as good as yours. Well done.

Holy sh** that is FANTASTIC work you do!! You made that look so easy!! I have my main stairs to do and it’s been keeping me up at night thinking and re thinking and over thinking how am I going to do this. Measure measure and more measuring. Your work is seriously second to none and you don’t look stressed at all while measuring and cutting. Of course you do this for a living but damn, some dudes are simply naturally qualified to perform just about any carpentry task, well I’m not one of them 😂. Excellent videos you share here.

Nearly a million views? Can see why ~ giggling! 😂 Thats some excellent solid & pretty millwork there. Very impressed that you cut your own treads ~ the grain is lovely. Most people would just schlep to the store for a bland ho-hum stair kit. This looks sooo much nicer! 👍 (You know what's really tricky to install in a home? A two storey interior metal playground slide. And firemans pole. Maybe a future video?)
