Opinion from an Owner: I waited 9 long months for my RS. I sold my 15 WRX to purchase it. I didn't purchase the STI because my plan was to mod the base WRX to be near a STI level of performance and the base WRX engine is better as a DD with less turbo lag, more low end grunt and vastly better gas mileage. How does the WRX and RS compare? The RS is better in almost every way and in some cases vastly so. Much better engine/power/sound. The RS's power delivery is so linear it feels and sounds like a V8, I'm not kidding. Dynamically miles above the WRX which is plagued by a ton of understeer, which...Sucks! I've tracked the RS and its so confidence inspiring! Both my son and I passed many porsche's. I got passed once by a dedicated, stripped and roll-caged 944 who happened to be a club racer...nuff said. This car is extremely fast, a ton of fun, and VERY easy to drive at the limit. Brakes are outstanding. The WRX got better gas mileage and better rear leg room. The RS rides better, is quieter and more refined and its clear it was made by enthusiasts for enthusiasts. Pop and burbles exhaust= LOVE IT. I could go on and on about this car. A track car disguised as a hatchback....yes. Way more exciting than the Golf R, Way more refined than the brutish STI. I agree with RAJ NAIR ford's chief engineer, Its gonna make a lot of bad drivers look good. I'm not a bad driver, but it definitely made me faster and gave me way more smiles than any other car I have driven and owned Including a GTR, C5 corvette, GTI and mustang convertible. Ahhh, the RS badge on the Ford Focus. Looking at my finances I realize that even if I sold my Ranger pickup and Mustang GT I still would be short on cash for this car but hey, I can dream.😊

Will be watching this in detail, am currently thinking of trading my lovely cayenne for one, back in 2004 i had a blob eye wrx sti ppp running 350 bhp, owned it for 7 years it was fantastic,,, traded it for a vw campers for memories with the wife n kids, which i dont regret but always missed that car..... Have gone full circle from considering an Rs in blue, to a 2006-2008 v8 aston, to a 2017 mustang gt, to a Cayman 981s..... and have now definitely decided on a blue RS, ❤️❤️❤️

I notice a lot of manufactures are doing it now but I'm curious as to how exactly they tune the car to pop on demand like that every time you lift off the throttle?

Some people say the RS is a little heavy, so do you guys think it is better not to get the sunroof option to save on weight as much as possible?

It should have come with brembo rear calipers and more aggressive pad compound. The shifter bushings are made for beginner manual drivers and the shift throw is to long. The car is a refined track car but at the same time dulled down for drivers wanting to learn on this or use for a daily driver. Rattle from seat beat holder area is pretty much standard on this car. Tire pressure has much to do with the torque steer of the car. Most of the features that should have come stock will now come standard on the LE 2018 Focus RS. You can only buy them in nitrous blue or race red.

Imagine if people got this excited for the 2.3L Ecoboost in the Mustang? :) Does the engine pull hard all the way to redline or does it drop off after 5k rpm's like the Mustang?
