We’re comparing 8 popular Honda Clone go kart and mini bike engines to answer one question: which predator or Tillotson is best? We start with a stock Predator 212 6.5hp horizontal shaft engine, work our way through stock to modified engines including the Predator 224cc max performance, Tillotson 212, Predator 212 Ghost, a “mild” cam Tillotson 212, a Tillotson 225 racing engine, and a big valve 225 with a monster camshaft.

I would love to try my hand at a stage 1 small block build off backyard 500. The dingo is a pretty awesome kart! No suspension but air down those back tires! 2.5psi is enough pressure to keep the bead seated and provide a pretty comfortable ride with 2ply tires.

I have a suggestion as a part 2 to this video. Since GPS has an engine dyno, ship or take ALL the engines you ran for this shoot out, JUST AS YOU RAN THEM, to GPS and have them dyno all of them to get actual HP numbers and see actual rev limits. Use same gas you used for the shoot out on the dyno. DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING. Also, that Dingo REALLY needs a camera mounted at the roll bar pad in front of the driver/steering wheel. The one up higher did a great job of showing the helmet being bashed all over the place (along with the head inside it). You guys should VERY SERIOUSLY consider getting a padded neck brace to slow down that bouncing to lessen the brain scrambling.

I was definitely entertained. That Dingo chassis was overpowered by those modified engines in my opinion. The "stock" engines would probably have done better with the torque converter that matched those engines like Ike mentioned. I think you could have got the points across with a simple drag race but it would not have been as fun. I think if had a chassis with suspension those modified lap times would drop by a surprising amount. Excellent video!!!!

Love this. I’ll watch it all. But… I very much think you guys should do a project to build a DIY dyno for mini bikes and karts. You’d probably need some sort of computer genius to help, but if you can get some trustworthy repeatable rear wheel torque and horsepower numbers, 0-40 times, etc, that would be great for comparing power plants and tuning. Then all these claims of “should be 25+hp” or “estimated 20HP from these mods”… etc could be actually proven and perfected. Even just an engine dyno on the bench would be cool, to test and tune mods, and easier to build with a Mount plate, height adjustment and interchangeable shaft adapters. But engine specs don’t translate directly to rear wheel performance. Even better… do both! The software would be the hard part, and the same software could probably be used on both. Don’t do away with the actual driving tests, that’s the funnest part. Just use a dyno to enhance the fun driving.
@tomstech4390
@tomstech4390 2 жыл бұрын
Plenty of people have made thier own dyno's so these guys definitely have the skills and tools, It's just the will and its far to easy to use the excuse "we just want to have fun" to cover up for false claims. "I could do a 8min lap of nurburgring if I wanted to in my P1" is very differen't to doing it.

I don't know which was sketchier. The air Ike caught the time he said his spine went out his head or Charles crossing the finish🤣 Great episode!

Gotta do this with the T4 Kart on a proper race track. As a reference i ran a bone stock 212 vs a tilly 225rs just tuning gearing on a kart similar to the T4 at my local track and the difference was on average 10 seconds between the 2 engines. high 54's with the tilly 225rs and about high 1:03's with a BONE STOCK 212. Loved this video you guys are awesome btw! 🤙🏻

CarsandCameras Guys, what a helluva video of dropping ponies into that buggy! haha I was reading along in CC during lap times & commentary. Very informative all the way through... Won't be long before seeing one of those backyard karts with an air-ride seat! Would be a back saver for sure. That & a train whistle for coming through that finish line on the lap on that 2-wheelin style! haha Stay safe & great content. When the driving hand gets like that, it's time to go jiggin.

I appreciate this video a lot, it puts in practical terms, the cost and performance value in each of these engines and lays it out Linearly. I have been running a stage 1 Tillotson to 12 on my black widow go kart for almost 2 years now and as you said, it might be a good idea to upgrade to stage two.

This was a blast to watch, well done guys. I think just for fun, you should take the 3 stock engines, Predator and Tillotson 212's and the Predator 224 and run them bone stock except for governor removed. With the varying RPM ranges it's still hard to see which one really performed better. Plus it would be good to find out how fast the cheapest version of each engine would be.
