I have a Discovery 5. It is a very nice vehicle to drive and is an excellent tow car. However, the biggest changes that I would like to see are a proper split tailgate (that shelf is useful) and that the rear window be at least 5cm lower at the bottom. It is impossible to see the road when reversing on a slope on a single track lane and whilst cameras are good for checking, they are useless for reversing quickly out of someone's way. I hope that the next generation Discovery will revert to more of the design of the Discovery 4 and get rid of the curvaceous lines of the Disco 5. It also needs to slim down and be narrower. Also, let's get away from absolutely ridiculous sized rims. An 18" wheel is far more practical than the nonsense of 20". It is a 4WD for goodness sake. Not a 911!!

Couldn’t agree more. I would be giving up alot that I love about my disco 4 to change to the 5. I would add that the rear passenger bench looks cramped both in leg room and in seat height. I feel like the disco 5 is just a poor man’s Range Rover now.

Rear door yes split would help,I’ve got a 23 defender 110,great but that rear spare wheel on the door is a pain in the as.. Especially hitching trailers on and caravans with that lock clam on caravan hitch’s.. My only hate of defender..

This car splits opinion but I have mine 6 years now and it has everything ! Looking at new sport and defender yeah has more tech and more modern but I do a lot of camping and the space and little extra storage compartments, boot tailgate etc is so versatile nothing on new models compare to that practicality

Don’t have the defender it’s my current vehicle yes it looks great but rear door and the wheel on it are a pain especially if your towing plant trailers or caravans. There rear compartment isn’t a patch on the discovery.. My next vehicle will be the discovery 5 seater.. May hold on till new design comes out

Every time I see a British car and it has a lovely interior I know its going to be left hand drive for overseas markets. All we get is black black black black and black. How f***ing dreary. This is much better.

LR3, LR4, and logically LR5 should be the car they called "new Defender". There is no spirit of Defender in that Defender, and there is no Discovery in this Discovery.
