I just can't let go of the two. Weiyoung and Touba Jun deserved better. The part when Touba Jun was dying and recited a poem that ended with, "Even through death my love won't die with me" PAINED SOOO MUCH HUHUHUHU.

Historical dramas just have to have a sad ending. Goodbye My Princess, Story of Yanxi Palace, The King's Woman, The Princess Weiyoung, even Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace. They always leave us hanging.

Why is everyone so depressed about the ending? It’s a happy ending. They got married, became rulers and even had a kid together. It’s the perfect ending. Well I guess it just didn’t last very long but they were able to spend all that time together and make do with the time they had. They were more blessed than other couples who didn’t ended up together. And who knows how long lasted other happily ever after couple lasted as well. This one just happen to show you the aftermath instead of the typical got married, the end.

I’ve watched this drama 5 to 6 times and each time the ending has had me in tears. I love this drama so much- this melody is so lovely and to read the translation makes sense after watching the drama in it’s entirety. I wish I spoke Mandarin because I am fairly sure that the translated captions in the drama don’t carry the same beauty of what is being said in it’s original language. (Since I’ve watched this and other Chinese dramas several times over, I’ve picked up a few words here and there and have noticed some words when translated, were translated slightly different that what was said.) The moment Toaba Yu died I couldn't continue watching. I was like I had enough sadness. I read the novel afterward and loved how different it was from the show (main events remained but were discussed differently.) And Tuaba Yu in the novel is so much better than the show. (I love him in the show as well.)

I just want to say that the end of the novel is super different, starting with the fact that the real protagonist of the novel was the "younger brother" and not the prince
