that's crazy you need that big of a kit for a church set.
@aparker507Ай бұрын
Oh I definitely don't and have my own other kits that aren't nearly this big. It's just the only place I can keep it setup and practice constantly lol. I don't use nearly all of the kit for worship music

Observation from Alpharetta show last night from official photos: Carter is using what looks like Z3 Ultra Hammered China 21 on his right side. One of the photos shows Z3 on the bottom. Never noticed this one before. Wonder if they broke the A ultra hammered?
@aparker5077 күн бұрын
Yeah he did. They just use which ever A or Z3 of the ultra hammered they have spares of

You play this massive kit at church?! Nice!

I was wondering if this was happening this year. It’s awesome the band’s social team has noticed. Do you have a source for the Carter Vic Firth Vic Grip sticks? I have looked everywhere for some retail stock and it seems to be unobtainium.
@aparker507Ай бұрын
Both Vic sticks are unfortunately discontinued from everything I've seen. Even the DMB store no longer sells them. They're only made for Carter currently
@junks345Ай бұрын
@@aparker507 that’s what I thought. I’ll keep my eyes peeled. I’ve been trying to accumulate a small band gear collection. I found an old stock of his pro-marks within driving distance which was a huge surprise. I’m sure a set will show up out there.

I prefer the older Japanese made RCs for no other reason than I like the lug design better, and the interior finish on the solid black shells are black instead of dark brown.
@aparker507Ай бұрын
They are indeed wonderful. Apparently the new ones sound even better

I thought the high-end models were still made in Japan?

Fun! Years ago he had another bass drum. What was the deal with that? Maybe used with another half of a double pedal…? (Maybe something like Dave Weckl was doing around the same time…?)
@aparker507Ай бұрын
He just had those for different options at the time. It only stayed for I think 1 or 2 tours. Didn't utilize it much
@playinpearls5419Ай бұрын
nice update. Curious.... do you use brand name luglocks or did you find an alternative? I've noticed quite a few of them on the drums..
@aparker507Ай бұрын
I use the Gibraltar ones

side note, floortom was changed to racktom for the europian tour (pretty sure)
@aparker507Ай бұрын
Correct! it's the B rig kit which is a 16x14 rack tom. The A Rig is the 16x15 floor. Cheers!

Update for the Summer 2024 US kit: 15" K dark thin crash - 14 k mini China removed 16" A Custom EFX back up behind the flat ride Kick reso - Ebony Ambassador No other changes
@bassplateАй бұрын
The 14" rack tom is 12" deep, not 10"? And is Carter's 20" bass drum a PHX?
@aparker507Ай бұрын
Yes it's a 14x12. He stopped using the PHX kick in 2015. Since 16, he's used the new recording custom. His tech told me he it sounded better than the PHX. Cheers!
@bassplateАй бұрын
@@aparker507 Thanks, Adam, for keeping up to date on this amazing kit! It's great to hear that the new RC 20" is sounding good (perhaps because of the heavier lugs) so the PHX isn't needed. Before the RC redesign, Gadd's signature kit had a maple bass drum probably because the old RC wasn't low enough sounding. Session great Dave Mattacks is a friend of ours, and he has spoken about the challenges of a birch bass drum; birch has a lot of high-end frequencies!

I do! I definitely do not use every part of the kit in church, but I can't have it set up at home, so it stays right down the road lol

@@aparker507 : That's fantastic!!! One of the proudest gigs I ever did was playing a last-minute gig in a church on a Sunday. I'm an Agnostic Jewish guy from NJ and this gig was in a Gospel church in NJ. I knew none of the songs, had no rehearsal and the organist saw me (I was the only white guy anywhere!!) and just told me to follow him and he'd give me cues. I could tell he was like "really?" But I followed him, locked in with the bass player and got the experience of a lifetime! An elderly woman later told me "You got soul, Mr. White man!!!!" Quite possibly the best complement I have ever received musically!!!! Enjoy!
