This is the Cartier Santos Medium WSSA0029 and you can see the bezel scratches has been polished out by Cartier Service Center and now it looks brand new. There is an option to replace the bezel entirely as well.

Watches are meant to get scratches, I honestly love seeing someones hard earned luxury watch with some miles in it. Bravo, hard earned, show the people and wear it with pride.

Unless you’re working construction, then heavy scratches are a sign of someone that doesn’t take care of their items. Like seeing a 3 year old car that’s already oxidizing, because the owner can’t be bothered to wax & care for it. My 5-year old Breitling has no visible marks, because I actually take pride in keeping it clean.

Some of the commenters are acting like a 7k watch is really a hardy tool and not a piece of jewelry. Nothing weird about people not wanting scratches on their jewelry.

I think the idea is if you want to baby your watch, there's no need for worrying about the bezel showing scratches. You're basically using it like a dress watch already. And ultimately, sport watches are designed to be rugged tools, even if they look pretty. Nothing wrong with liking them to look like the tools they're designed to be.

@@17arando My car's sole purpose is to get me from point A to point B, but I can still take pride in how it looks. It's also silly to me when people talk about how scratches on watches tell stories. No one asks me what story I have about the chips on my car hood, or compliments me on it.

@@ImAlsoMerobiba Not a great example. The paint on the car is protective, keeps it from rusting. So even if you don't at all care about the appearance of the car, you still would have good reason to not want scratches on it. I don't know, for me a tool watch is quite akin to say, a pocket knife. By the time your father hands it down to you, it's not pristine, but that's part of what makes it special. Even if someone swapped an identical model of knife for that one you'd immediately be able to recognize it's not the one you were given.

It’s a beautiful watch. I got into horology about 2 years ago. I’ve since bought an Seamaster 300 and a BB58. I always loved Cartier, and never realized how well this watch sits on my wrist until I went to the boutique about a month ago. Definitely going to buy one this year.

It is relatively thinner than dive watches and I also love the way it sits on my wrist too. I alternate wearing dive watches and my Santos. It makes me appreciate my Santos even more;)

Kinda light and dare I say “pretty”. I love looking at a beautiful woman and this gives me the same sort of feeling looking at it. So not feminine, but female inspired perhaps.

I'm not keen on the polished bezel though I know that's a main draw. If this watch had a brushing on it and sans polish I think it would be a lot more fub

I've got the Seamaster 300m, Breitling Navitimer as my dress watch. I have a Rado Jubile with diamonds that I no longer wear. I want a Jaeger Le Coutre Master Geographic as my next watch or Rolex GMT. Always liked a Cartier Santos so might add that to wishlist

For years i held off, but I just bought the 2-tone and i couldn’t be happier. I’ll accept what i get, the watch is elegance at its finest. I’m in a better position now too, because it’s not an everyday watch for me, i have quite a few in the rotation so it won’t ever be on the wrist for any rugged days. I can use my divers w ceramic or aluminum bezels for that.

Flitz metal polishing paste. You can polish everything from stainless steel to gold. Use a Q-tip with a gentle touch. You're welcome.

probably you can get ppf for a couple of dollars to prevent scratches

Its easy to polish a shiny surface with just diamond cream and a polishing pen.... try it on a cheap watch first! (Try to avoid matt surface otherwise it may become shiny instead)

Yes it bid, but they then introduce the one with the blue dial and bezel, I've had now for 18 months, although its not a daily it used 2 or 3 days a week and not one scratch on the bezel

I think scratches and dings on watches add to the story. However, hundreds of micro-scratches are a different story. Those happen from simple things like putting your hand in your pocket. Doesn't add to the story. Definitely takes away from the look.

Why not make the bezel out of tungsten carbide. It’s also shine when diamond polished.

Very brittle stuff and it has to be quite thick or it breaks like glass. Perhaps this is too thin for that. (Very heavy too, so perhaps a factor as the balance would be weird.)

Watches are meant to be worn, and also to make you happy when you do. Why not do a little buffing up once in a while to this Cartier swirls magnet. PS Own a gold and steel one, its a Classy Classic that never goes out of style!

Cartier sud make the 'ML' version with 38.0 x 45.4 mm dimension to entertain the goldilocks 39-40mm round watch equivalent. Thanks for the vid, man.

In 8-10 years that watch with the minimal wear signs but faded dial or numerals will be worth it, that’s something I’d wear til it fades and then lock that away and forget about it for a few years until the price goes up on the original serial #. If Rolex does it why can’t Cartier, they’ve been pumping out good watches and it’s starting to catch but too pricey especially where I’m from in Canada 🍁

I hate how the screws are not alligned on neither the casing nor the bracelet. Its such a sour taste cause if they dont care about something as obvious as this what are they gonna do with something you cant see at first glance. Its just Hublot and Cartier where Ive seen this done so poorly.

Such a gorgeous watch this watch in a two tone along with Rolex date just champagne dial Jubilee bracelet are my two Grail watches. I don’t need an AP or patek. I’d be very content with Rolex and or Cartier

if you use it, you scratch it. I would never polish one of my watches. I age, it ages with me. not to mention that i don't really like to remove material from it.

Some watch collectors might say that if they’re looking for something rare and hard to find. These Cartier Santos versions are still in regular production globally and the owner of the Watch polished it because he plans to keep it anyways
